Comments about Bose® SoundTouch® SA-5 amplifier:
I wired it to B&W CM9, sound is fine but not the best for these speakers. After 2 months the tweeters burnt and B&W dealer stated that its the amplifier issue and i had to buy new pair of tweeters

One of the best media add-ons for our home.
I bought the Bose SoundTouch 10 for my wife's office. I loved the sound so much I bought the Bose SoundTouch 20 for our kitchen. Now I wanted to integrate my whole house speaker system with SoundTouch system. I bought the SA-5 amplifiers to hook up our Family Room, Living Room and Master Bedroom ceiling speakers. Now we can have our old wired ceiling speakers working with the other Bose SoundTouch speakers. I had a old OSD Amp before which produced great sound but the SA-5s some how made our old speakers sound just a little bit better. My wife love how easy it is now to play her music throughout the house using Bose SoundTouch app on her iPhone, iPad or Mac. I only have one problem with the system, I would love to use the Aux input on the SA-5 and be able to send it to my other Bose SoundTouch 10 or 20 speaker. I was told when I bought the SA-5 by the salesman that Bose is working on a software patch to fix the Aux in issue. Bose please do, then this would be a perfect amp

Excellent. Handy to re birth your AM5
Excellent and very well designed amp. I now have my much treasured Acoustimass AM5 series living the wifi life. Another quality Bose product. Thank you
Software could make this soon much better
I currently have 10 Sa-3 amps on an old lifestyle 38. They work great. I stream through my computer and cell phone and have had a very nice experience. I bought an SA_5 with the thought of converting my system to all SA-5s. The amp is nice and concept good. Easy to set up. The software could be better: 1. There should be better bass, treble, balance control. 2. There should be independent control of speakers A/B 3. There should be rebroadcast capabilities 4. There should be surround sound capacity for fixed in wall speakers. I have a total of 16 ceiling speakers in 5 rooms and 4 outdoor speakers. I would love it if they could give me more flexibility. Niles systems have a nice product but I don't feel their iPhone app is as easy to use as Bose. Make these changes and I will buy 5 more SA-5s and put speakers in my other 6 rooms.
I like it but can I get an upgrate?
The unit works as advertised but like others I was disappointed to find that the A and B speakers cannot operate independently and I had to buy an additional switch to accomplish this. Seems just lazy and is a bit misleading. Also a solid user manual for the controller app should be included with the unit. After downloading the app. I re-initiallized the speakers several times. It took me a bit of time to figure out that this only appears to be the case when you try to "play everywhere" before you have picked a source for one unit and then used that unit as a the basis for "play everywhere". I see at least one reviewer has been put of the product by this. A good set of instructions would help.
Nice idea but with big issues.

We've had an SA5 for 4 months now. The first set up was a breeze. It only took 3 or 4 minutes. Unfortunately every single time we want to use it again the thing needs to be set up again... from scratch. There is no way for this device to hold the set up information past a nights sleep. We no longer use it 80% of the time in order to avoid doing the 3 minute set up procedure. I tried connecting it through ethernet to avoid this issue, but the manual will not go through this procedure and it's been impossible to detect the network when wired. Why can't a device released in 2015 hold log in and password for a WiFi for more than a couple of hours is beyond me but it extremely limits the appeal of this device. On a separate note, it's ridiculous that it would not come with an option to run A and B zones independently. To avoid blasting my neighbors with music in the patio I continuously have to unplug the wires for a zone. .. ridiculous.... too many issues for a high end amplifier. Not worth the buy until they sort all these kinks out.

Great wireless Amp, needing some add'l development
I debated a long time between the Sonos and Bose wireless systems. I finally started with a Soundtouch 120 based on greater flexibility in source inputs and slightly lower cost. I am very happy with the sound bar and sub in this room. A couple weeks later I added a wireless SA5 amp to drive existing wired speakers and plan additional Bose wireless speakers and possibly SA5 additions throughout the house. The 120 and SA5 pair well when streaming from Pandora, Spotify, my music library, etc. At a slightly lower price and higher power output I would probably rate 5 stars; however, additional software development is also needed so that HDMI and optical inputs to the 120 and Aux inputs to the SA5 can also be paired within a Soundtouch group and played everywhere or within defined zones throughout the house. For example, it would be nice to add a SA5 to the 120 to have rear surround sound thru existing wired speakers. I did understand this limitation at time of purchase. I'd rate SA5 installation, WiFi connection to Soundtouch app, etc. as moderately time consuming (30-60 min). I work in technology.
Really good product, but there should be the possibility to run speakers A and speaker B differently (e.g. one switched off, the other switched on or one volume at 8, the other one volume at 5). For such an expensive amplifier, this should allowed by the app.

Great option to enable streaming to wired speakers
One "enhancement" I would expect in the future from the Bose engineers is the ability to run the A speakers and B speakers individually from the amp...like a receiver would. In most cases it probably doesn't matter that the two sets of speakers have sound at the same time, but in my case I have a set of speakers in my family room and a set of speakers outside on the deck. My family room speakers are the "A" speakers and the outside speakers are the "B" speakers and both sets would be always on. As to not blow the neighbors away, I came up with a low tech solution that works just fine. I bought an old school A/B switch and this enables me to run A (inside), B (outside) or both together. Ideally this would be achievable through the SA-5 amp or the Bose SoundTouch amp.

I bought this product 3 weeks ago!, super easy to install very straight forward. Your music everywhere, always connected without wires. I have a pair of Bose 251 before. They work perfectly.
