Good but flaws
from TN, United States
I bought this for school back in august and i have a mac. It doesn't have a cd insert so you have to download the software. its hard to connect the printer but once it works, it works. its difficult to reconnect it as well.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

WORST PRINTER EVER

Not one issue, ever
from Concord, NC, United States
I'm amazed to see all of these terrible reviews because I run a few small businesses out of my home and when BOTH of my laser printers, which I usually use to print packing slips and shipping labels, stopped working on the same day, I went to the Canon MG3520 inkjet I have here, and used it for 2 weeks straight... no paper jams, no ink issues (ink has lasted a LONG time for an inkjet! - If you don't want to buy a lot of ink and aren't using a printer for photo printing, invest in a laser printer - know your needs and options). I just finally, this weekend, got around to fixing my laser printers and have all 3 printers working now, but this Canon printer saved me and is still going strong. I've also never had an issue with wireless connectivity.
from York, PA
I had this printer almost 5 years and it worked great in all it's functions. I was very disappointed when it suddenly stopped working b/c of an error message that the print head was incorrect. I looked up on youtube on how to clean the printhead and followed the directions. It then worked fine for another month or two but then suddenly stopped again with the same error code. Tried cleaning it again several time with no luck. A new printerhead would cost more than what I paid for it. So, I ended up getting another Canon printer, a laser one this time B&W only. But the MG5220 was a very good printer for us.
Won't load paper anymore
from Brooklyn, NY, United States
I got 50 pages out of this printer, tops. Then it ran out of paper and wouldn't load anymore, no matter what I tried. At least it was cheap, because that's exactly what it is. Pure garbage, and incredibly fussy.
most abysmal nonfunctioning printer i've ever used
THIS PRINTER IS ABYSMAL please save your money. easily the worst printer i have ever used, worse than a decade old lexmark - speeds through ink, sometimes ink just disappears when its not even in use - the WORST color quality i've ever seen, full of lines and extremely faded - wireless doesn't work - paper feeder is horrid , in order to print out an essay i normally have to spend an hour just printing because i have to trial and error putting paper through because it doesnt accept paper 50% of the time the issues just keep going on with this thing. its hit or miss whether it works or not, i'd say half the time it doesnt and you need to "troubleshoot" (aka turn it off and on until it feels like working). complete headache, i only use it when i have to otherwise i use my university's library printers i never write online reviews. this is my first. this printer is so horrid that i felt compelled to do so. its that bad. please save your money. theres no such thing as a cheap good printer.
Won't scan if ink is out
from Lee, New Hampshire, United States
Other than the fact that you can't use the scanner (on an iMac,anyway) when the ink is low and the lights are flashing, this has been a pretty useful little printer for the price. One feature I especially liked is the ability to print duplex which is very handy when creating musical scores.
impossible to connect. SUPER ANNOYING.
from San Diego, CA, United States
