Wood Won't Smoke

I bought this today and it didn't smoke the wood. I tried it at a very high then my desired low cooking temp. My Applewood never smoked. I had to finish the meat on the grill and not a lick of wood smoke flavoring.

Once it is well seasoned it will be nice. Works well.

unimpressive build quality
I got this for Christmas and just broke it out with the warm weather. The thermostat control on the power cord is completely broken. The knob comes right off in my hand.

Great smoker but my remote heater part stopped working. How do I get a new one?
Makes a mess!
We have used the smoker several times and have been pleased with the results of the meat. However, the grease does not run into the grease catcher. It runs down the legs and forms a puddle. We purchased a large metal tray from an automotive supply store to put beneath it to make cleanup easier. It still takes a lot of time to clean up the mess it leaves behind. I called Character-Broil and they acknowledged that it is "a known issue" but offered no solution. The representative did say that they have "more updated" versions, which is no help since we already purchased this one.
Got his as a gift for Christmas and have used it about 4 times so far. 1- wood chips wont smoke 2- product description doesn't match actual product, no dampeners, and only a grease can and no tray like it says. 3- doesn't come with operating instructions, only assembly instructions 4- hard to fine tune heat to get the proper "low and slow" temp for smoking

Great smoker for beginners!
I received this for my birthday last June and have not been dissatisfied with anything that has come off the smoker yet. We get fluctuating weather patterns here so the insulated box is a great feature and a must have. With that being said I was worried about being nominated to cook up 30lbs of meat in the winter for a work function, the worry of cold temps and loading it to the max was for nothing, the pulled pork was a huge hit!
Door seal leaks and paint is coming off
This smoker produces good meals. However, as others have posted I have had to bungee the door to keep the smoke in. While cleaning up the unit after a 12 hour pork butt smoke I found that the paint was coming off at the areas where smoke was leaking. Why are you using paint that is not suitable for this application? This is one case of getting what you pay for.
Got this unit as a gift. Used it a few times and it worked great. There is an issue with the door not closing properly. The patio is level so uneven ground is not the case. Smoked meat a few times and was very pleased. Up until last week I am not getting any smoke. Did a rack of ribs last week and the meat was cooked but not smoked. Thought maybe the wood chips went stale. But after researching that I don't believe that is the case. Going to try to smoke ribs again tomorrow. Hope it works. If not I am going to be VERY disappointed.
heat gauge on out side of smoker (exelent)
I bought my smoker about 2 years ago and I have done everything from a small rack of ribs to a 25 pound turkey. I love my smoker !!!!
