New to Dyson
Comments about Dyson Animal Bagless Upright Vacuum:
I bought a DC50 for our new home. I have heard how good they are, but just didn't want to spend that much money on one. However, I came upon a deal and bought it. I have used it numerous time and I actually love it. It is very easy, not heavy like other uprights, and it is easy to use. I would recommend it to anyone.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I had been wanting a dyson vacuum cleaner since the first time I saw it advertise on television. A couple months ago I finally had enough money to where I could afford one. I was so excited to get it home. I quickly became very disappointed. To be as small as it is, it is heavy and awkward. When I finish using it and go to turn it off, it doesn't hold itself upright. It pops out and the handle falls to floor. I also have to be careful when rolling it from one room to another. And the hose when extended is difficult to use as well. I have to use one hand to keep the vacuum from falling forward. I should have stuck with the vacuums I used to buy. They would last a year to year and a half. I will never spend that much money for a vacuum again unless I am allowed to try it out first.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Replacing old vac
I knew my old vacuum was failing, but I hadn't realized how much dirt I was leaving behind until I bought my Dyson. I filled the canister twice on the first time I used it and my rugs looked great. It look me a few uses to be comfortable with the wand and flexible hose, but it works well on my ceiling and walls.
Great product, particularly like the light weight and cleaning action.
Love My Dyson
Love the power of suction & the results. I thought I was a clean freak, but this vacuum is proving I was wrong & now I am!!!! Thank you Dyson for this product & also how it cleans my hardwoods, ceramic & carpet. I was not pleased with the lack of good instructions with how to connect the attachments. I tried calling their contact number & they were just as bad as the manual provided. I tried the you tube demo for the attachments & that was not helpful either. Love the machine though!!!
No regrets with this one!
So much power and all the dog hair is picked up easily.
DC 50 Animal Review
My DC50 has worked well, but I had an older and larger Dyson Animal and compared the two vacuums. The older version had a longer cord and large canister to collect dust and hair. The suction and maneuverability is much better than the older version. The newer version doesn't seem quite as durable, but only time will tell on that issue.
Doesn't pick up bigger pieces
Overall the vacuum is great for picking up pet hair, dust and dirt. But, it does not pick up broken glass pieces even tiny ones. It also doesn't pick up bigger pieces. My son tipped over our shredder and the paper shreds went everywhere. Even on the hand held setting this vacuum didn't pick up hardly any of the paper shreds. I would expect it to pick up these things and not have to get on my hands and knees and pick up all the paper and glass shards that it would not pick up. Lastly, I read this on other reviews and did not think it was that big of a deal and I guess its not really but the canister is tiny I have to empty several times in just one room. Not that big of a deal over all but I wish I would have spent more and gotten a full upright with the bigger canister. Maybe I had too high of expectations for my first Dyson.
Less carpet cleaning
I believe that if I had had this vacuum sooner I would not be scheduling yet another carpet cleaning.
I bought the first Dyson that came out, now that one was impressive. I'm now somewhat older and with that the small DC50 would be easier for me to handle. Well it is lighter but the hose is to short to even reach the corners of the wall at the 8ft ceiling. It falls over very easily. The brush attachment belongs on a pretend vacuum.
