This is not the product we expected from Dyson
Comments about Dyson DC56 Hard Floor Wet/Dry Hand Held and Stick Vac:
We have bought a Dyson vacuum cleaner about 4 years ago and we love it. Because of that we bought this handheld vacuum from Dyson. The picture is not compatible with the machine we have. We feel that the suction level is not as strong as we expect from a Dyson product. It is easy to use and light in weight. A simple, easy design that we like. However, we bought it in May of this year and it went out for a couple of weeks. I left it to recharge for a while and now it works. But I would recommend other Dyson products that are great. Kind of disappointed.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I wished I had noticed the on / off button had to be held down and not with a switch. It is painful for my finger as it tires easily and my arthritis. I have heard this from others as well.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Cleans Great! Easy to get in hard to reach places. Love the fact that it is cordless just wish battery lasted more than 15 minutes. Husband says, "It's the Bomb diggity!" And yes, he does use it!!
Great for what I want it to do
The vacuum was purchased in order to clean the interior of my car. It does a very good job and is very convenient to use. It is better than others I have used.
We had a Dyson upright vacuum that we have loved - especially the warranty service. So I was eager to try to the tool to substitute for frequent mopping. I was disappointed in this product. The sheets for the wet mop didn't stay moist even for a single use. I had to carry around a spray bottle of water to keep it moist & supple. I no longer even try to use the mop capability. We use it as an expensive hand vac.
Powerful for handheld
Great product for handheld. Depending on soil level, may have to recharge after vacuuming 6 steps at max power. Does not include long handle as pictured. Also wife wishes it had an auto "on" button rather than having to keep button pressed to operate as her hand gets tired and achy after a few minutes. Good suction power and good for quick clean-ups or light jobs that can be done in a few minutes before battery needs recharging. Also may be somewhat overpriced for functionality but Dyson construction is very sturdy compared to other brands. Longer battery life would have made it perfect.

Dyson Hard DC56
I received the Dyson hard for Christmas and was very excited as I love Dyson products. If you are looking to sweep and mop your floor at the same time this is an awesome tool. Also loved the holder that mounts on the wall and the two attachments provided and the fact that it is cordless. However I was a bit disappointed when attempting to just sweep the floor without the mopping attachment of the double-edge cleaner head. It isn't designed to really pick up dirt very well in that scenario. If you want to just sweep the floor without using the mopping function you can, but you would need to use one of the two other attachments provided but they are small and not meant for sweeping an entire hard floor. Also the power button has to be held in at all times, there is no locking mechanism. One last thing that would give the Dyson Hard a rating of 5. If there was a place on the wall mount holder to put the packet of wipes.
Best Purchase Ever!
I read all the reviews and almost didn’t buy it. I was afraid the 15 minute charge would be insufficient and the trigger switch concerned me. I am so glad I went with my instincts and bought it. It is light weight, easy to use, has excellent suction and with the trigger switch you don’t waste battery life. That fifteen minutes stretches to an hour or more of actual use. And a big plus - this is the most quiet vacuum I’ve ever owned. The DC-56 changed my life - literally. I have dogs, cats, and a parrot so I’m always sweeping something up. I’ve had several different vacuums and every time I turned one on the cats scattered, the dogs barked, the parrot squawked - and my husband would shout, “Shut that thing off! So for years I’ve used a broom and dustpan. The first time I used the Dyson went unnoticed by the animals in the house, but soon my husband came out and said, “What is that thing? Let me try it. Now he walks around the house like a character out of Star Wars and I seldom get to use it. My best purchase ever!
Overal it is a great lil machine. The suction power is good, but i think it needs one more attachment. It needs like a sweeping attachment that could sweep and suck up dust and hair before you put on the moist pad. The most pad really does a nice job of cleaning the floors but I live with 2 women and their hair gets stuck to the floor if I hit them with the moist pad first. A couple more attachments and this would be a 5 star device.
A must own for people with kids, pets or both!
Can't imagine life without the Dyson Hard anymore. Once we got dark hardwood floors, it became disgustingly clear how much dirt and pethair we'd been living with and exposing our children to! Now a quick once-over in the morning is all we need to make sure our floors are looking like they did when we moved in. The Dyson Hard makes it easy!
