Beauty is only skin deep

Comments about Dyson DC59 Animal Hand Held and Stick Vac:

It had good looks. That is the only positive remark I can make. I own other Dyson products that, in my opinion, would rate a solid 5 stars. I am underwhelmed.

Comments about Dyson DC59 Animal Hand Held and Stick Vac:

This is one of the handiest small vacuums I have ever used. It is light, easy to use and does a fantastic job of picking up. It goes under the edge of cabinets and under the entertainment center easily. It is great for the car and I would recommend it highly to everyone.

It's a cool device!

Comments about Dyson DC59 Animal Hand Held and Stick Vac:

I am really glad I bought this device. I live in a one-level 1,100-foot condo with carpeted, wood, and tile floors. I had a big canister Dyson that I believed was the best vacuum I'd ever had. But, I had to keep an extension cord under my bed to use when I used the vacuum. I knocked off paint and even divots of wood from the corners of baseboards, and I didn't enjoy switching heads from the carpet to bare-floor head. So I took a chance on this portable. The first time I used it, I vacuumed my rug with my full-size first. When I used the DC59, it found even more. I love not needing to chase a cord around or having to store an extension cord. I love how easily it switches from floor surface to floor surface without having to switch heads on the device. I love the accessories that go with it - have used them for tight places, walls, and ceilings. The length of charge is wholly adequate - I have cleaned my entire house without losing a charge. I even like how easily it stores on the wall behind a door. Most of all I love how easy it is to get out to use quickly for a little job with the knowledge that it will do an EXCELLENT job. But, nothing's perfect. I would appreciate a larger storage bin for what it picks up. I would certainly be happy if it picked up dog kibble. I gave the fringes on my rugs a "haircut" because the machine is so strong it was pulling off fringe and getting the pieces caught on the way into the storage bin. Huh. Three preferences - not even complaints. After using it for about 6 weeks, I gave my full-size Dyson canister to my kids. That says it all, doesn't it?

Great for low pile carpets

By Calleigh1

Comments about Dyson DC59 Animal Hand Held and Stick Vac:

Love my DC59 Animal for the low pile carpets and furniture. The floor tool is not good. Pickup is minimal and it often sprays the kitty litter out of its way instead of suctioning the litter up into the vac. Also, the bare floor attachment is not firm enough and it flips around making it difficult to use.

I have been happy with my ...

Comments about Dyson DC59 Animal Hand Held and Stick Vac:

I have been happy with my Dyson except for one thing....the battery life. I have a large home and can only do one room at a time, and then have to wait 3 hours for the battery to charge. But that may be a blessing and an excuse for not having to clean the whole house at one time, I can vacuum one room then rest and read or watch a movie or just relax with a glass of wine. I purchased the Dyson because my daughters wanted me to get a cordless as they were afraid that I would trip over a cord. I just love that aspect, and it is so convenient and so easy to change attachments. It cleans extremely well and I feel that my carpets are cleaner. I have an oriental silk runner that I'm afraid to use the Dyson on as it is so powerful. I don't want to possibly ruin the rug. What are the recommendations of using the Dyson on a silk rug? I am glad that I purchased the Dyson.

Perfect for dealing with dog hair

By Goldenmama

Comments about Dyson DC59 Animal Hand Held and Stick Vac:

I absolutely love this vacuum. I joke with my husband that I have vacuumed more since we got it than I have our whole marriage! I have two golds retrievers who live in our home and hair is everywhere! I have to vacuum daily sometimes more and this portable light weight vacuum makes it so easy! It no longer feels like a chore it's fun! It also makes vacuuming the couch way easier and it is way more effective at removing hairs from the couch than our other vacuum. I have a lot of tile in my house and when I would try to sweep dog hair it would float up in the air. When I tried to vacuum with my old old vacuum it would just blow the hair away! So pointless. So I got another vacuum that worked well but it was so heavy I was sweating by the time I was done. I love that the all the parts come out easily for easy cleaning. The only CON is the tiny wheels on the bottom collect hair and since they don't come out its hard to remove the hair. But other than that the dyson 59 animal is a dream! Light weight, very effective and convenient. Love!

Comments about Dyson DC59 Animal Hand Held and Stick Vac:

After reading other reviews, I almost did not keep it. I am so happy that I decided to try it for myself. I have a large yellow lab who has severe allergies and he sheds alot. This Dyson has made it so much easier and faster to vacuum my furniture and the stairs. It does a great job on the floor as well. I have 2 other Dyson's (1 for upstairs and 1 for down) both Animals. I prefer to grab this one...the convenience is worth it's weight in gold. It also holds a charge for about 25 minutes. I highly recommend this Dyson...love love love it!!!

Not very happy with it. I don't think on the box it says anything about how long the battery last. It last me about 25 minutes with battery fully charged. With the amount I paid not very happy.

The Little Machine that Could

By 4Felines

from Undisclosed

Comments about Dyson DC59 Animal Hand Held and Stick Vac:

With four cats, this machine is a good everyday picker-upper (I use the heavy duty Dyson once a week). The "animal" version replaced my older Dyson stick model which -- apparently -- shorted out when it picked up some water droplets on the kitchen floor (be careful of that). It is stronger than my previous model -- that I like. It is, however, more difficult to clean out the holding tank -- seems the cat hair gets stuck up around the gusset at the top of the tank (any advice for that would be appreciated).
