Comments about Dyson Origin Upright Vacuum:
Initially I loved this vacuum. Then, after about two months the plug got bent. I was able to bend it back myself. Then, about six months after I had it, it started not working quite as well. Now, less than a year after I bought it, it will not turn on.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

We purchased a Dyson DC14 (purple) and absolutely loved that vacuum, lasted me over 10 years and when a part broke it was still sucking like new. We decided since we loved the first Dyson we ever purchased that we would invest into our 2nd one and chose this one. Sad to say this is the worst vacuum we have ever owned, the suction is weak and today the neck broke from the base of it. It snapped from pushing it up into the straight position.
The dyson DC40 vacuum
This vacuum by far is the best vacuum I have ever owned . This machine is worth every penny. We have a large dog that does shed quite often and the Dyson never disappoints me . thank you I only buy Dyson products and I encourage and recommend them to friends.:-)

Sadly, my DC14 tank-of-a-machine was out of warranty and wasn't working so instead of repairing that wonderful machine, I purchased the DC40. Absolutely detest this machine. The hose and cord are shorter, the suction forces me to run over a piece of lint multiple times, the attachment brush at the end of the hose is very difficult to remove (and is necessary because it's essentially useless). The good points are it's a Dyson machine that is very easily cleaned and taken apart.
I replaced an older model with this DC 40 last year. It is not as durable and feels like cheap plastic. I cannot roll it on its wheels without having the handle portion flop backward into vacuum position. It does have good suction but I worry about the attachments and the extension wand since that is what broke on my older model.

We love our vacuum it has worked better than any other brand we have had. We used to go through vacuums every 6 months or so. They would lose their suction. We have had this one for 9 months and its still working great! it's not heavy so its easy for me to take up and down the stairs. I would recommend buying this one.
This is my 2nd Dyson, have an Animal model DC41 purchased in 2010. I don't like that you have to pull down handle to use, I prefer the way it was before that you put your foot on the red bar to release the lock to vacuum. I find that it releases when going from tile to carpet & vice versa. It works well but does tangle more than the older model. I like that it's light weight. I feel like Dyson is not making the machines as durable as they used to which is unfortunate because I really like the vacuums
My old vacuum quit, which used a bag. I wanted a bagless vacuum. After much research about Dyson vacuums, I decided I wanted one. Our home has hardwood and carpet. In one room we have a 12x12 area rug on hardwood. After assembly of my new Dyson DC40 Origin, I vacuumed the 12x12 which had been vacuumed a few days earlier with the old bag vac. It was AMAZING the lint and crud that was in the Dyson canister. Such a small area had this much dirt. I then rolled it onto the hardwood and turned off the brush bar. It was also amazing how it maneuvered. I could have pushed it with one finger. Yes, it is just a vacuum cleaner but if you want a cleaner home, buy a Dyson.
I love my dc 40!
I wanted to wait until I had my dyson for awhile to review it. Ive had many vacuums and also professionally cleaned businesses and homes for many years. I put my vacuum through the ringer. I have a Siberian husky which requires daily vacuuming. I love the ease of the hose release for getting in edges. I also really like the pet attachment for my furniture. The ease of taking it apart for maintenance is splendid. everything comes apart at the right areas and easily. I accidentally sucked up a neck tie the other day with the hose ( don't ask) and no problem. just popped it apart and pulled it out. It has great suction. The only thing it is not great for is my hardwood floors doesn't pick up as good as Id like. I use another vacuum on my hardwood floors.
Best Vacuum EVER
Very Pleased with this product. The product has always been true to it's brand. Don't use the pull out extension much because I own a cordless as well but wouldn't hesitate to use if if needed. LOVE IT.
