When I moved into my house, the air conditioner was old and not working. I replaced it with Friedrich brand but left the old sleeve in. Big Mistake! I could not sleep in that room that whole winter because it was the wrong sleeve and it made the room cold. I did the research and bought the right sleeve and just had it properly installed a couple of days ago. Finally, I can sleep in that room this winter.

Just like their (Friedrich)air conditioners, which have become cheaper and cheaper over the years, this sleeve is no exception. Not only does it cost MORE than other brand sleeves, the other brands appear stronger, have a bottom and cost less. Unfortunately, once you have the sleeve in, unless another brand AC fits (and I don't mean with cheap space fillers), you then become stuck with the Friedrich brand. I have 3 units that I have had to change about every five years. Becoming noisy and rust have been the main problems. I would change the sleeves to another brand, but that would require masonry work outside and plaster work inside since other manufacturer's sleeves are all slightly different.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
