Comments about Frigidaire 42 Bottle Free Standing Wine Cooler:
We wanted a wine cooler that would be in a living area, so wanted it to be quiet. The Firgidaire is so quiet that I have to put my my hand on it to see if there is any vibration from the compressor because I can't hear it running at all (and, no, I do not have hearing loss)! To reach the capacity indicated requires loading the cooler carefully. We are members of a wine club that has somewhat bulky bottles and we can get them to fit. Can even get a couple of champagne bottles in particular spots. The only thing that didn't fit at all except sideways was a skinny but tall bottle of dessert wine.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I know the other reviewers stated that the bottles don't fit, but the really do if you put them in properly. I thought the same thing in the beginning, and noticed that I had to the shelving all wrong.. there is a certain way to put the shelves in so bottles fit. I have some pretty big, heavy, expensive ones in there and I managed ok. It took a bit, but overall, it is better than the last one I had. It had a loud compressor and didn't hold temperature. This one does and it is stylish and sleek. if all the shelving is in properly, it works just fine... It is tight, you can put bottles on top of bottles, but it works.
I just purchased the unit and in response to the above comments regarding the capacity, I had no problem getting 42 bottles in. If you reverse the back three, neck out, it worked like a charm. The bottles I stored were of all sizes, so in that vein, I have no problem with the unit. We'll see how it performs.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
It's early, but not promising
As noted by others, this cooler does not hold the number of bottles advertised, unless you have half-bottles or only thinner full-size bottles. My unit came with a dent in the door frame at the top hinge. Should I wish to switch the door opening, this dent will be a visible flaw. For now, it's hidden. Poorly marketed and poorly made.
Hoping For A Good Result
My husband just bought this unit while shopping over the week-end. The draw was the 42 bottles of storage. But when we tried to fill the unit we soon found that the capacity of this unit was much less. Box should state that some of that storage is only half bottles. And being wine drinkers we should have realized that not all bottles are the same size....we bad. Anyway, since there was only one review, I thought I would add ours in the hope that this unit which cost over $300 total will not be a waste of our money and that it will work well without having to be replaced or fixed. It is nice looking and after two days is holding temperature well. We are disappointed that we can't store the amount of wine stated on the box but we are hopeful that is our only complaint. If we had read the review before the purchase, we probably would have passed on this product.
A year and a half ago I purchased a model FWC425GSO, admittedly not the identical unit, but very similar. It holds about 35 normal sized but not identical bottles, no matter how they are stacked. The refrigerator has failed and the authorized repair company told me it is so cheaply and poorly made that it isn't economically possible to fix. The warranty, had it still been in effect, required an exchange of the entire unit, not a replacement of the particular compressor part, which is unavailable. My view--this cooler is a waste of money.
