Comments about GE Cafe 1.7 Cu. Ft. Over-The-Range Microwave - Stainless Steel:
Handle is made out of plastic. Big disappointment for microwave that costs this much.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Purchased a few months ago but just remodeled kitchen area and installed range 2 weeks ago. Works great, easy to understand and use. Has done everything from warming a croissant to cooking a tenderloin and everything in between.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

We desired to up grade our micro to a combo micro&convention as suggeted by a realor friend. This model had high ratings and support through local appliance store. In service 6 months, no troubles. Wish there was a manual other than on line and a video on how to gully use its many features.
Beautiful, easy to use and really easy to clean.

We bought our GE Cafe microwave 3 months ago. It cooks evenly, quickly and is very easy to keep clean.

Bring back the virtues of my older GE microwave.

I replaced an older GE over-the-stove microwave with the new model believing I should upgrade to a convection microwave. In my opinion the older unit was better in several ways. First, the door on the new unit is, in comparison, very hard to open. Secondly, I preferred the older model 1-0 keypad as it was quicker to go from door shut to cooking than the knob and push controls of the new unit. The new unit installed is a replacement to the new unit I purchased as the original new unit buzzed loudly when it wasn't in use. GE stood good on replacing the original faulty unit but the time and effort to install a unit and then have to reinstall it was disappointing.

I'm very happy with this microwave...no problems at all.
Hard to see control panel
from Franklin, WI, United States
The control panel is not back lit and you cannot see unless you have lights turned up in the kitchen. That's the only negative that we have experienced and have had it for 2 years. Other than I would never buy stainless again - finger prints and smudges are the WORST.

I love the convection option, made a casserole in it!

Purchase Cafe microwave to replace one that was 5 years old. We have a Cafe range so we wanted it to match. The old Cafe microwave had a stainless steel handle. This one does not and melts way from the heat off the stove. GE replaced the handle once and now the same thing is happening again. GE, please fix this problem or stop selling this microwave.
