Hard to clean
from Union, KY, United States
Comments about GE Profile 30" Downdraft:
Purchased this for our kitchen redo. HATE it!!!! So hard to clean! Takes longer to clean than to cook dinner. I actually avoid using it at all costs, and get angry when my kids do :( Have had the cooktop in place for less than 6 months, glass is scratched (from the pad and cleaner that came with the it!). The knobs are cheap plastic (and scratched from cleaning and my grates have the paint removed from them already. My installer also had a very hard time installing as the size of the vent is not standard. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

GREAT GAS COOKTOP
from Somerset, KY, United States
Would be nice to have a lower temp burner than the one that it has. We would buy it again, but only in white. The cleaning material sample that came with it works great!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Downdraft Cook top
from Phoenix, AZ, United States
This product is just OK. I didn't have much of a choice when I purchased it 2 months ago as it is only one of the two 30" down draft cook tops available on the market. On the plus side the burners are better than the old cook top I replaced with this and the raised burner grates keep the knobs from being burned by the hot pots and pans, but my biggest complaint is the glass surface. It is really a nuisance to keep clean. No matter what type of cleaner I use it always looks either streaky or like it has a greasy film. I have tried everything. From the cleaner they recommend to other glass cook top cleaners to window cleaner NOTHING works. And there are some spots that no matter how I try to clean and polish they will not come off! For this reason I would never purchase another cook top with a glass surface. I wish they would have designed this with a stainless steel top instead.
Not Happy with this Product
from Fairfax Station, VA, United States
I bought this product on line and recommended by a friend. It looks cheap and not a good ventilation for people that cook a lot. Also it looks too high on the counter top. Am not happy with the product.

this stove top is less than 4 months old, and not heavily used. The paint is already coming off in spots. The one burner dial got stuck and I had to use pliers to to turn it off. The front burner is erratic and will either cook on high or low non-dependent on what the dial is set to for that burner.
Very nice looking cooktop!

Yes, it's hard to clean - let me just get that out of the way now. It's honestly not any tougher than your standard glass top cook top but if you aren't used to having one you will need to practice to get it down. Tip - clean dirt and grime with a wet towel as normal and then finish up with glass cleaner to eliminate streaks. It IS a glass top cook top after all!! I do love the look and the price was worth it since we aren't planning to stay in our house forever. It was a nightmare to install but we had to run a gas line through a full finished basement and our installers weren't the best. But everything about the actual cooking it fantastic!

I bought this stove top over a month ago. After reading previous reviews about being hard to keep clean I was a little concerned. But went for it because I love GE. I will say this stove top is amazingly easy to clean. Once a week I use bright glass cleaner and the rest of the week I use Dawn soapy water, and it always looks Fabulous. I have three boys in the house and we do a lot of cooking, it is an amazing stove top.
Grate Design Poor
from Austin, TX, United States
This cooktop came with our new home. Looks great and functions well. I do a lot of 'wok cooking' but find that my curve bottomed woks do not sit on the grates at all due to the bad design. All the grates have a metal 'bubble' in the center which makes it impossible to sit a curve bottomed wok on the burners. GE does not provide a 'wok ring' with this burner either. Very disappointed about this!
11 years old and works great
from Louisiana, United States
We've had this exact model for 11 years. We put all the removable accessories (knobs, grates, fan filter, etc) in the dishwasher (air dry) at least once a week. This cook top has been well worth the money. A possible drawback is when you want to use all four burners it gets very crowded and uneven heating when you use 4 large pots (8 qt pots) at the same time, but what can you expect? This is a 30" cook top! I also don't like the down draft, but this is what you get when you don't want an overhead vent so the down draft is what it is and would be with any down draft vent. Overall, this product does what it's supposed to and has done it well. It is frequently used for 11 years and continues. Good job GE.
