Comments about GE Profile 36" Gas Cooktop - Stainless Steel:
Have had my gas cooktop for over a year and am very happy with it...but do agree that the grates are too high..or the burners are too low. Wondering if GE has considered making an adapter or replacement part to eliminate this problem?
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Only one of the five burners will bring a pot of water to a rolling boil.

The GE Profile series cook top is an excellent product for a kitchen remodel

Only downside is the distance between the burners and the top of the grill surface. If the surface were 1/2-1/4" lower it would save a lot of gas. Otherwise, very happy. I was concerned about having a stainless cooktop from a cleaning perspective, but stains haven't been an issue at all!

Another great product that we have purchased from GE!
This is the best cooktop we've ever had
from Sugar Land, TX
I read a lot of reviews of this product, and was initially wary -- were to grates too high for cooking? Was the layout bad? etc. All for naught. We went from a cracked, black-glass electric cooktop to this and couldn't be happier. The grates are NOT too far from your pans. My favorite is it cleans like a dream. A wipe with a damp cloth and you're done. It keeps its shine. Cooking is fast - especially with the powerboil setting. It can hold big pots. it browns things evenly. I like the childproof gas lock, too. I keep it on when I'm not cooking. Overall, this was a beautiful buy. The design is stellar. It cleans and cooks great.
Best buy for your money!!!

We've had this 36" cooktop for a few months now. As a former professional cook, I found this unit to be surprising. It's a professional cooktop for home... Cleaning: It's super easy to clean. For a really good cleaning: Grates and burners come off easily. They can be put in the dishwasher, but we haven't had the need. A quick wipe usually does the job. Knobs stay in place well so a slightly more forceful pull is needed to remove knobs. Not sure if they can go in washer, but again, a wipe usually does it. I like to remove knobs to clean underneath. We use a simple counter spray like 409 to clean the surface. Wipe dry, then use a small amount of olive oil to polish the stainless steel. Olive oil is the big secret for stainless, if you didn't know already! Performance: The center burner will boil water FAST! I forget how many btu's it has, but it's a lot. All other burners work well, also. The three mid-size burners vary in height to the grate so you can really hone-in on what you really want. Skillet: Our set came with the cast-iron skillet that replaces the far left grate. You have to remove the grate in order to use the skillet. One knob actually controls both burners in the skillet mode. This is great because you can adjust low to high for both burners, and also be on a low setting on one burner while on a high-setting for the other burner. The knob and display are super easy, but I still always look under the skillet to make sure. Overall: Great unit. I highly recommend it for the pro cook at home to the beginner!

Takes very long to heat up

The distance between the gas hobs and grill is too much. It takes a long time to heat up the food. I would not recommend this product.

I am redoing my kitchen with all GE Profile and am very happy with the cooktop. The center Bruner features are great for large pots and pans. The look is very clean and makes the kitchen look great!

Grates are too high
from Seattle, WA
My home came with this range pre-installed from the builder. The grates for this range are too high. Except for the center burner, all others provide really low heat because of the height of grates. I am looking for any solution to get replacement grates for this range. If anyone has any suggestions, pls let me know.
