Question about water usage
from White Plains, NY, United States
Comments about GE 2.2 Cu. Ft. Front Loading Washer - White:
I've only used it twice, so far, but this washer's results seem to be very satisfactory. I do have a question: one thing I've noticed in comparison to the washer it replaced, which was made in 2002, is that it seems to use hardly any water. In the first minute or so, with "Colors/Normal" dial setting, it seems to barely wet the clothes. During the wash cycle there seems to be no water shloshing about in contrast to my previous machine . Is this normal? If so, it's pretty impressive that it does it on so little water!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Small work horse

Have been using this since 2011 at our beach condo. Most of our clothes aren't grimy--just a little sand here and there...salt water and chlorine. But lots of towels! This washer is amazing for its size! Love the settings--typically use the quick cycle--30' and done! Alot of my friends complain about front loaders-i wipe the door and the rubber ring with a chamois after last cycle and leave door open for 15-30'. No mold, no odor after 4 years of use! Even had a 6 month renter twice. Loved it so much, i finally got the matching dryer this week! This little appliance made me a GE fan!
Don't Buy This Washing Machine!!

Less than a month after installing the washer, the spin cycle developed a problem. Machine often stays stuck on spin. When it does spin, it has to think about it for a long time. And the spin strength is significantly reduced. We've used the machine less than 10-20 times since it was installed: we're appalled that it has already developed problems.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Compact & quiet
from Canandaigua, NY, United States
Just purchased washer & dryer so they coud stack in a small space. GE is the only compact set where the dryer is external venting (hate the idea of inside vent). Both work great and are quiet. The sound signals are really pleasant instead of the loud buzz in other appliances
LET ME SAVE YOU TIME!

I AM IN A SECOND STORY CONDO SO I HAD GREAT CONCERNS ABOUT NOISE, SHAKING, AND LEAKING. I HAD TO RETURN A VENTLESS SET (fancy looking but not GE) WHICH TOOK OVER TWO HOURS TO DRY AND GOT THE GE WASHER (WCVH4800K2WW) AND DRYER (DCVH480EK0WW) BECAUSE THEY WERE COMPACT AND FIT, BUT ALSO HAD A VENT. I AM NOW ABLE TO SET UP A SPEED WASH IN 30 MINUTES AND DRIED A LOAD WITH JEANS AND LARGE BATH TOWEL IN 30 MINUTES! RUNS SO QUIET I FORGET IT was ON AND BOTH AT SAME TIME. MY NEIGHBOR BELOW ME DOESN'T HEAR A THING EITHER. DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. JUST GET IT! (first review I have everwritten) DID I MENTION THEY LOOK BEAUTIFUL?
NICE AND QUIET

Love these products. I bought them for my vacation rental condo and they fit nicely. I have made myself and my returning quest very happy!

This washer is stacked with the matching dryer on top. After initial delivery and installation, we found that the legs/feet on the washer needed to be adjusted as it was a bit off balance when spinning. Once all four feet were firmly planted, everything works fine.
Excellent features and value

I've been using this washer for 7 months and I'm impressed. It is relatively quiet and cloths come out cleaner and with less wear and tear than any other washer I've used. Low water use is amazing. Very happy I chose this washer.

Replacing the exact same model that was only 4-1/2 yrs old! Only got same to match existing dryer and reviews on other brands not much better. Welds that held the drum apparently broke! was gonna cost over half of a new one to repair and was afraid something else would then break! Its a real nice washer, does everything I could possibly hope for in a washing machine, just pray this one lasts longer than 4-1/2 yrs!! Ridiculous for the amount they cost!!
Better than I expected !!!
