Comments about GE 2.2 Cu. Ft. Front Loading Washer - White:
I like the sounds the washer makes when I use the control panel. I like the way it looks. I hope it works well. So far it is easy to use. I like that it has a setting to wash the basket and a speedy wash setting.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Does not spin enough water, cycles too long, makes dryer very inefficient so no energy savings even though it is 10 years newer than the old one.

I bought this washer 6 months ago, and its matching drying. The washer is amazing. Everything I washed came out sparkling clean. I use European detergents (Ariel or Persil made in Germany or Portugal). It only needs a little (1-2 spoons detergent). If you use too much detergent you could end up with spots on the clothes. It never happened to me. I also use Calgon, hoping it prevents scale. I used a similar machine while I lived in Europe. This 60cm wide washer was the normal size there. I was so surprised when I saw the big tanks (bigger washers) here in N America. It is so hard to find small (24") machines. I am so happy to find this GE in Canada. It's a pity it is so expensive.

Many preset wash cycles, quiet, does a great job. Able to hold a set of king size sheets or about 4 pairs of jeans. Great product for two people.
Disappointed - big problem
from Mechanicsville, VA
The washer tub is only 14 inches up off the floor - too low.. This would be okay if I was a midget! You can't determine this problem from a catalog or internet picture, nor is it given in the written information. I'm very disappointed there is no pedestal for this machine. I would not recommend this machine, especially to senior citizens, as you have to get down on your knees to see into the tub and to clean out excess water in the gasket. I would have a hard time selling this machine and would probably take a huge loss. I just bought it. The problem is obvious immediately when you see the machine. If I keep it, I'm considering setting it up on cinder blocks.
Poorly designed, died in less than three years

We bought our machine less than three years ago and the spider support has already cracked necessitating repairs that near the price of a completely new washer. This is apparently an issue that is well known.
Compact and efficient

Quiet and compact machine. My only complaint was the user guide doesn't mention removing the storage bolts until page 15! Not good for the do yourself install. It was like watching a demon possessed machine dancing across the floor!
small but efficient

I expected the washing machine to be too small for my normal size loads. I was wrong. I washed my queen comforter and it came out beautifully. Don't let the size fool you. The one disapointment was the price. I could have gotten more features including steam on other models and paid about $300 less per machine.

Beautiful little one!

I bought this one to replace a couple of decades old top-load washer/dryer combo, I should've done this a long time ago! The clothes come out beautifully clean, hardly wrinkled, and it takes surprisingly little detergent and softener to make them smell and feel gorgeous. It's very quiet, and it has every wash cycle you need, and super easy to use with a single dial button. The only drawback for me -- it uses the normal electric outlet, unlike my old washer, so I have to use an extension cord to plug into a distant outlet in the corridor when I am doing the laundry, a bit inconvenient, but whatever, I can live with that.
