Comments about GE 21.2 Cu. Ft. Top Freezer Refrigerator - Stainless Steel:
I have had this fridge for about a month. What I find truly frustrating is the light in the center of the ceiling of the fridge. It takes up a bunch of space, limits using that space for taller items, and it is uncovered, which makes me worried about breaking it. Also, when the fridge is loaded, the lighting is really poor, because product stored on that shelf blocks it. I am also frustrated that it is loud when running. The good thing for us were that it has 1 door. In a smaller kitchen, having to go around French doors to access food would have been a nightmare. I am also pleased that the ice maker was an option. Ice makers use plastic tubing, and who knows what chemicals are leached into water from the. They also use tap water rather than filtered water, so it would be impossible to avoid the chlorine, fluoride, and other poisons that really need to be filtered out to make water more safe. Frustrating is that the freezer has only 1 shelf. I like that the space at the bottom of the unit is used more efficiently than older models, but in order to keep the floor clean directly under the door, I have to open it to vacuum that space. (Not talking about vacuuming UNDER the whole unit with this comment.) The vegetable and fruit drawers are spacious, and, since they are of clear plastic, everything can be seen in the drawers. The shelves in the door are decent, but it was designed to allow for taller things like milk, which only works for half that shelf, because the butter dish takes up half of it. With more taller things, we would either have to get rid of the butter dish or try to store them on the top shelf in the fridge, which is then completely restricted by that poorly placed light fixture.

Got this frig two weeks ago. Working well but having some frost buildup in freezer -don't know why? Would have liked:1) more flexible options for arranging shelf spacing and 2) separate temp. controls for freezer and frig. instead of just one controller

This is a replacement for a frig we had for 17 years. I am a little disappointed. The vegetable bins in the frig are huge and take up way to much space, making less room for other item. The frig door pops open (and vice-versa!) when the freezer door is shut. This is not a frost free unit. I have to defrost the freezer door at least once a week and the inside of the freeze every 6-8 weeks. Plus the manual is online! I like having a paper copy to look at. Plus swapping the doors was a nightmare.
NOT so good of a design

The design makes it difficult to reach in, both putting items in or taking them out. It would be ALOT better if it had water and ice dispensed from the door. Just saying!!!

do not like this fridge at all its hard to balance temp. in freezer and non freezer compartments with one single control
Just okay. Not as good as our old one.
This unit replaced our old unit because we were told we needed to have an energy star compliant unit. At first the unit ran quiet and seemed to do a good job. Now the fans make a weird noise sometimes and buzz. The unit seems to do its job. Only time will tell. Our old unit was running 15+ years. I am not expecting much from this one.
Can't find anything.

It is almost impossible to find anything that is not on the top shelf or the first row. I have to take out everything in front to get at the back things. The shelves don't slide out.
nice large refrigerator

Great frige for the price

This is a great fridge and I got a really good price on a scratch and dent model. The only thing I don't care for is the limited number of shelf adjustment options.
