Comments about GE 30" Free Standing Electric Range - Black on Black:
Just bought yesterday and I already love it! Cooked supper and breakfast in no time! Had a stove that was 15 years old that came in our house when we purchased it, nothing fancy, plain.. Well I saw this in store with everything I wanted and a great price!! Husband was sceptical but after using he loves it too.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Love this new stove!

My last stove kept burning out the elements, and wasn't nearly as accurate for baking temperatures. I bake quite a bit so this is very important to me.

I bought it 2 weeks ago and the oven wasn't baking properly ,so I bought a oven thermometer to test it and it is off 25 degrees and I cannot get it to calibrate
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Trouble with Cooking and Baking
By Chef Frank

Cooktop: The front “combination burners heat the pan unevenly. The inner (small ) burner is too hot while the outer ring is not hot enough. People expect both of these burners to have the same amount of heat, since they are both set to the same setting. When stir-frying food in a large frying pan, I put the heat on 7 on one of the front combination burners. The food at the middle of the pan burned and the outer burner was not hot enough. Also: It is impossible to simmer on this stove because the lowest heat setting is too hot and boils the liquid too much. Another major issue is that the rear burners are so close to the rear control panel that an average-sized doesn’t fit on them because the pot crashes into the control knobs. The cooktop becomes hot far away from the burners, so there is no cool spot to place food to cool down. For comparison My previous GE Profile stove only became hot immediately above the burner., not for an area that spreads out 6 inches away from the burner, like this stove does. Oven: The BAKE setting on the oven creates uneven heat. It is too hot from the top. Baked items are overdone (hard and dried out) on their top surface and almost unbaked at the bottom. I need to see the temperature of the oven while the timer is running, but this is impossible. There is only room for one number to be displayed at a time. This makes cooking extremely inconvenient. For example, when I preheat the oven, I have no idea how close it is to being ready (The display reads "Pre" instead of showing the temperature) , until it is exactly up to temperature. And, if I have the timer on, I can’t see the oven temperature. When I adjust the oven temperature, the timer setting resets, so I don’t know how many minutes are left. This is true for both timers (Cooking timer and general timer). So I have to write down or remember how many minutes are on the timer before I adjust the oven temperature, and then restart the timer for the remaining number of minutes. Cleaning the cooktop seemed like it would be a problem at first--it was hard to remove greasy streaks....but after a few days, this problem went away and I have no problem with cleaning it. The control panel plastic is like cardboard. It looks wavy from the side, it leaves fingerprints and looks cheap.

This is exactly what I wanted! Glass top, self-cleaning oven and a great price. All with GE dependability. I plan on this being a fixture in my kitchen for years to come.
Love the dual burners

Nice design with large interior and window. The low profile of the drawer is awesome. No more fishing out toddler toys from under the stove.
Easy to use, does what it's supposed to do.

We are currently remodeling our kitchen upstairs, so we bought this oven for our little kitchenette downstairs to us during the construction. It has allowed us to continue our lives uninterrupted the entire time. It has been great.
Multiple small burners

I am a widow and cook primarily for myself. I like this range because it has 4 small burners and 2 medium burners since I usually use very small pans. The 2 larger burners are a good size for when I have friends/family for dinner or need a pot of water for pasta. Also it does not have a convection oven. At my age I rarely bake and since I am retired I don't need the speed of convection baking. It would be nice to have 1 large burner for those very rare instances, but I'll be fine without it.
