Worst Washer I ever had! Do not buy!!!
from West Chester, OH
Comments about GE 5.0 Cu. Ft. Top Loading Washer - Metallic Carbon:
I used to have an old inexpensive Whirlpool machine with an agitator, and I never had problems with it. Bought this washer in the summer of 2013 when we moved into our new house, thinking I made a big upgrade...Since then, every time I do laundry I wish I had taken my good old washer in my new house! This washer looks great but that’s the only good thing I can say about it. All the fancy features together cannot clean the way my old washer did. It never uses enough water, I always use the extra rinse function and even then I still have detergent and fabric softener residuals on our clothes! Seems like it just makes the clothes wet and mixes them with the detergent and fabric softener that are then left on the clothes together with the dirt on them! The very same clothes that my old washer cleaned so nicely! Furthermore, it has damaged our sheets and numerous clothes! I wish I could attach a picture to demonstrate! Also, the smart dispenser does not work properly and several times the washer got filled with foam that leaked outside of the washer in piles of foam!!! And more: It does not matter how much effort you put to arrange clothes inside â€" very often it goes out of balance, makes a lot of noise and jumps about a foot from its original place! I can continue to complain…but: DO NOT BUY! DO NOT BUY! DO NOT BUY! I am at a point to throw this piece of junk away and buy a new washer. The only reason I still have not done it is because of all the money I spent on it.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Fancy Gadgetry = More stuff to break

In the first year of ownership lid lock mechanism failed, suspension rods needed to be replaced because they were faulty, machine software failed. Next time I'd buy a basic top loading washer that gets the job done without any bells or whistles. And not a GE.

Just bought this GE washing machine after extensive reviews of like-type machines from other manufactures. So far, it definitely exceeds our expectations.

Its a Keeper!

This washer seems to have all the bells and whistles including preprogramed settings and the ability to set your own. I love the ability to add fabric softener and/or bleach before the load is started, and then just walking away. I also love the glass lid. It is very quiet and if a washer could be fun to watch, it would be this one. I love it so far.
One fine washing machine

This washer can get the big job done and can do a small one too.

The product looks gorgeous, but performance is terrible.

Had problems with the auto dispenser dispensing too much detergent and softener. GE replaced main board but still uses more detergent than it should.

I LOVE THIS TOP LOADER WASHER. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO A FRONT LOADER AGAIN!!! TONS OF COOL FEATURES!!

Never had any problems with GE appliances until now. This machine is terrible and now the spring in the lid has broken. King sheets are impossible to get clean, they never get thoroughly wet no matter what I try. They are literally dry and unwashed in many areas.
One of the few washer/dryer sets assembled in TH USA. Great looks and nice to return to top load washing machines.
