Using for bedroom. Works well but takes a while to cool the whole room. Noisy/loud. Lightweight, making installation easier.

Comments about GE 5,050 BTU Window Air Conditioner:

Water pools in the unit during & after rain, causing the unit to become very noisely (fan blades hit the water).
      Poor temperature regulation.
Louvres are not 4-way adjustable. They cannot be adjusted front-to-rear.

Comments about GE 5,050 BTU Window Air Conditioner:

Bought this a month ago because it was the shallowest one I cound find (I have 5 1/2" from window frame to bars). It's been on pretty much 24/7 and hasn't broken. I'm in 600 sq ft and it cools the LR well and the BR (with help from a fan) down to probably 78 or 80 degrees - manageable for sleeping. For the price it's a major bargain. Haven't got an electric bill in this apt yet so I can't comment on energy efficiency.

Comments about GE 5,050 BTU Window Air Conditioner:

I just got this AC yesterday for my daughters bedroom which is a 10x12foot room and its working really good. No problems with instillation. The room actually got really cold I had to keep the temperature low. I would recommend this AC for a small room like the one I'm using it for and you will be satisfied.
