Comments about GE 6,500 BTU Wall Sleeve Air Conditioner:
This was a replacement for a GE product that last 17 years! It is easy to use and saves a lot of electricity.

Good AC unit
from New Jersey, United States
Great unit for the cost. Sleeve AC I it's tend to be pricier but this one was competitively prices when compared to other brands. The digital temperature control is great as is the remote and timer feature. Cools the room down nicely and quickly. About average for noise but it is installed in a bedroom and has not woken me up during operation.
not so happy

Altho a/c works fine my issue is the very long heavy duty cord on these (3) mid wall units which are now hooked on the frame. It would have been nice if some way of covering this was offered. Your picture of unit does not show wiring.............GE is the only brand to fit opening.......

Cools the room very well. Like the remote. We did have a bit of a problem getting it into the sleeve but it finally fit. The sleeve is the original from 1976. I have two others that I purchased over 15 years ago and they are still going strong.
This unit cools the space efficiently and quietly, but has several quirks that make it difficult to work with. Specifically, re-attaching the front grill after removing it is a clumsy process, and this is particularly maddening because the switches to choose the fan cycle behavior and filter cleaning reminder are behind the grill (really?), so any desired changes require removing the grill. Ugh. The third issue is with the digital display. It is angled upwards, and my installation had to be shoulder height. Thus, one has to stand on the other side of the room to read the temperature setting. The controls and indicator lights (i.e. Mode, Fan Speed) cannot be seen without getting on a stool. I would have given the unit an average rating, but given what you get, the price is outrageous (and it can't even be installed without buying the wall sleeve separately). This is all particularly disconcerting as I am a GE stockholder and creditor, and truly wonder how much WE pay these design geniuses. Good grief! I'm available if you wish to bolster your QA staff with some common sense.
