Comments about GE 24" Free Standing Gas Range - Black with Stainless Steel:
This gas range, which is kept in my lower-floor apartment is so much better than my larger, more expensive range in my main up-stairs kitchen. It heats the food faster and is my favorite for canning. On my more expensive one the burner racks move around when I stir the food and on this one there is no movement, it's so stable. It is small, that's why it's in the apartment, but such a great range.

great gas range
from Iowa City, IA, United States
I have had this compact gas range for about 6 months and love it. The knobs are not removable for cleaning, which is my only criticism. The oven temperature is right on, compact design fits perfectly in my small kitchen.

Nice clean look range
from Philadelphia, PA, United States
Bought this July and can say very happy with it. Clean up is easy and works as it should. Only flaw I found was when we had it installed the range is 24 inches wide in front but flares out in the back so we had to Remove 1/4 inch on one side of opening. Otherwise my wife likes it a lot and that makes it all good with me.

We bought this for our new cabin and it works well in our space. Oven heats rapidly and thermostat is accurate.

No preheat light
I bought this stove for a very small kitchen and it does fit nicely. Everything works fine so far. The only thing I was surprised and disappointed about was the lack of a light telling when the oven reaches the desired temperature. Geez, even my grandmother's stove had a preheat light!
Good basic range

I bought this range sight unseen after reading all the reviews. It is a very sturdy 24 inch range. The grates are solid and the oven is a good size for a small rage. I read the comments about the broiler and have to say that is the worst feature on this range. Not only is it very small-but you have to bend so far down to pull out the rack that if you have any back or knee problems it makes it impossible to use.I have had numerous gas ranges in my lifetime and have never seen a broiler like this one. All in all it is a good range for a summer home or a basement-but not for ones main kitchen due to the poor broiler design.

High Power Requirement
Overall the range seems to work ok. There are a few things that could be better. Also, see below for why I wish we had gotten a different model. We needed to converted this to propane and had some trouble with the directions. They have 1 set of directions for all their models so it took a bit to match the right set of directions with this model. We installed this in our remote cabin which we use a solar-battery powered system for electricity. Surprise! This gas oven uses a LOT of electricity. It uses a glow-plug to heat a thermo-coupler to release the gas. Basically the oven takes about 15amps to use. Not a great choice for us and maybe not the best choice if you want to reduce your electric bill.

I bought about 6 months ago and I really like this stove. The problem with all 24 inch stoves is that they are not self cleaning but this one is very easy to keep clean, especially the cooktop. There are no cevices & everything can be easily taken apart and could even be cleaned with boiling water if need be. It is attractive and almost has the look of a professional stove. Two negatives: No clock or timer altho most of us have other timers on cell phones or microwaves. And the broiler drawer doesn't automatically pull out when you open the door but I don't use the broiler often. Overall best & most economical choice if you need a 24".
looks very professinal

Fits in the small area I have. The size doesn't take away from how well it works.

Although this unit is only a 22" it performs as though it was a full size unit.
