This air conditioner was terrible from day one. It did not even last one year. It shoots ice directly through the vents! It is loud and not worth the price. I need to replace it and will be going to a competitor's store.

    Service and delivery comments:

purchased online, picked up in store. this was a little more complicated than it should have been, but not many people must choose this option. it was slightly cheaper elsewhere, but the unit would have cost $75 to deliver and PC Richards was right in my neighborhood.

Comments about Generations® 8,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner:

I received a 6,300 btu a/c for my bedroom which is less than 150 sq. ft. which was more than enough. I was so impressed by this a/c I bought another (the 8,000 btu) for the rest of my apartment. My electric bill was much lower not only for the reason of cooling only one room at first but for the energy efficient setting that allows the a/c to cool for a certain amount of minutes then cuts off and turns back on to the temp you set which I love b/c I don't like it cold but the a/c is able to deliver a cold temp if that's what you like under the Cool setting. It also has an auto setting, and I Feel, Sleep, and Timer + more. Just pre-set the temperature you like and it will stay at that temp as long as it's set. The Sleep setting will cool at a certain temp then hours later in the am when the temp is usually lower the a/c will also raise the temp a few degrees to accommodate, so no having to wake up either freezing or hot having to turn off the a/c.

I used to have a 10,000 btu GE a/c which was the noisiest thing I ever heard but this Generations a/c is sooooo quiet. I don't know about the one who said it was noisy, they must not have it installed properly. You can't beat the price on this or the efficiency.

My only concern about this a/c is that in the interior is a lot of styrofoam when you look through the vents so I feel it's not the highest quality and I wonder how long it will last. Then again a lot of other name brand a/c's are made of the same quality and I heard the Generations a/c is also made by Fridgadaire.

So buy this a/c and you won't go wrong.

Cools the room so fast to the point where you will have to raise the temp, you will freeze. Great price, easy installation, not too noisy. Got what I paid for.

Comments about Generations® 8,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner:

Picked up this gem tonight at the Levittown location. I used to have a wimpy 5000 btu window unit in a large upstairs bedroom of a cape style house with the high pitched ceilings. For the last week or so it's been so muggy and sticky with the full sun beating down on the roof all day that even at night the unit couldn't keep up. With this new AC I can sleep in comfort and don't even need to use additional fans which were previously a necessity. I don't find the unit particularly noisy, more of a steady fan sound, quite relaxing if u ask me. Looking forward to using it for at least the next few years. Would absolutely reccomendations to a friend or family member who is budget conscious and wants a great window unit for a reasonable price. A++

Comments about Generations® 8,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner:

I must admit i was skeptical when i bought this unknown brand, but I believe that this is made exclusively for PC richard only. This AC has a Thermocol Insulation, that you dont find many Brands & makes cooling even efficient.
There is no drip from behind unlike other AC, and the water helps the compressor cool down.
Noise wise, at low fan , its hardly bothering and could get bothersome at higher fan speed. I prefer using a ceiling fan to distribute cool air through out.
I am sure to enjoy this in my bedroom. The outside noise is barely noticeable either

The bright led lights can get annoying if you happen to sleep in that direction. The manual says that I should be able to turn it off, but apparently it does not.. Well a minor inconvenience, compared to price.

Comments about Generations® 8,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner:

THe only silent AC are central AC and that too sometimes can give out funny noises. So on fan speed 1 & 2 , the sound is mild and gets a bit louder on the higher fan settings.

It lacks oscillation, and hence you need a fan to distribute air evenly.

I am not able to turn on the BRIGHT GREEN LIGHTS of the control panel and its quite annoying in the night, and the whole room glows green like an alien movie. THough the manual has settings to turn off the lights, it does not and occassionally it turns off the entire AC ( Weird)

My bedroom gets cooked by the west facing windows absorbing all the heat & for this price and 8000 BTU it gets the job done compared to the higher and quieter Friedrich AC of similar rating.

Also I am not sure If i am supposed to remove the rear condensation outlet as the manual does not provide adequate instruction,.. I have left it on as it..

Purchased this unit in May 2012 and it stopped working in June 2013, conveniently 1 year after the warranty expired. You get what you pay for. Go with a brand name, reputable product. I called PC Richards to recommend a repair company. One was BBB rated F. The other wanted $150+tax just to come out and give an estimate. Not worth the expense, better off buying a new one.

Have for use in my apartment. I have a very big studio apartment and this 8k btu ac really does the job. It is a bit noisy but does the job like no other a/c i have ever owned. Those on the fence about the price, I had two 5.5k btu a/c's and this one stomps on both of them together. 1 8k btu generations a/c is better than 2 5.5k competitor a/c's that spit ice out at me. NO ICE BUILDUP and IT IS WAY HUMID this summer. Also has a rebate. ;)
