Comments about Hewlett Packard HP ENVY Phoenix Intel Core i7 Quad Core Processor Desktop Gaming Computer:
Replacing a 7-yr old HP. Only had this PC for a few days; still in the process of re-configuring for my needs. Buying experience was good; arrived quickly. The price was good for the specs. Being a gaming rig, it's a bit too blinggy for my taste; the case would be low-key without the red LEDs. Will eventually replace the red-LED main fan with one sans-LEDs. The machine is very quite; I intend to use for Photoshop/Lightroom work and for Software Development (Visual Studio). I needed to reconfigure for my purposes. I added a 256GB SSD as the main drive; and transferred the OS (Cloned) to the SSD. I also added a second 1GB HDD and intend to combine with original HDD as a RAID 1 array for my data. Cons: Was hard to find info on the Motherboard to know what's-what as far as HDD connections... Also, PC comes with a in-built 16GB SSD used to cache HDD R/W, it 's however it is unclear to me if/how this is configured....
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great gaming computer
Great computer, I got it about a week ago and I am quite pleased with its performance thus far. With the video card that comes with the computer I am able to play games like Arma 3 on High which is quite impressive and the 16 GB of RAM is probably more than I'll need for most of the games I usually play.
This product is super fast.

My HP 810-160 is great for all the games I could not play before. Has one of the fastest processors and the newest OS. It is also very easily upgraded. The only thing holding this computer back is my internet connection. It is as advertised.

I chose this HP Desktop to replace the HP Pavillion I purchased in 2005, which has been completely reliable and is still going strong. But I knew I would need something to replace that old Windows XP desktop with enough power to run Windows 8.1, and this HP Envy Desktop certainly has the CPU power and memory (16GB) to do that extremely well. And I expect this PC to have the quality and reliability I've come to expect from HP. This system runs Fedora 20 in a VirtualBox virtual machine very robustly. My only wish is that the system would have included a 2 TB hard drive rather than the 1 TB it came with. At least it should be easy to add in 1 or 2 larger drives in the disk bay in the future.
