This was for my father who basically surfs the internet (shopping, sports, directions etc). It is such a simple interface he picked it up immediately.Perfect for those who just need simple.

Chromebook - here to stay!
from Fremont, NE
Wasn't quite sure about buying a Chromebook - but the price was right and it did everything I really needed it to do - so I BOUGHT IT! That was one of my BEST ideas yet! After a relaxed week of getting it set up the way I wanted, I find that the "instant on" feature is most appreciated and not needing to install all the extra and costly (security) software is a real plus. When I realized that almost NONE of the purported features of Windows 8 really excited me, I asked myself, "Why pay all that extra money for something to just sit around unused?" With what I saved I can buy 2 or 3 (more) Chromebooks and put them to 100% good use - which is exactly what I will soon be doing! My grand-kids will be happy, too.

Great little machine
from Brookings, Oregon
I love my new little HP Pavilion 14-c050nr Chromebook. From the time that you open it up, it comes on and you can use it. It is a little different than what I have used before, but that hasn't been a big problem. It will connect to the Cloud to connect to Cloud ready printers. It is lightweight and is comfortable on my lap. It is great for all of the reasons that I wanted a small device. The only drawback that I can see is that the battery doesn't last a long time, however it charges quickly when you plug it in.

Hope you never need to print
Good for web use only. Please be sure that you never need to print. Cant be hooked to anything by USB. HP/Chrome has tried to set up a way with cloud print but it requires another PC to be running on your network. This flaw should have been disclosed before purchase. Boo on you HP.

Just received this Chromebook and unboxed it. Ready to go in minutes. Love the big screen and it really has a quality build. This is quite fast, very happy with the 4GB DDR3, can have lots of tabs open with great performance. Keys and touchpad work well. Haven't timed the battery duration yet. Speakers are robust; the screen is very sharp and bright. Would highly recommend this to everyone who wants to take advantage of Chrome OS. HP products have always been superb and never disappoint.

Why did I hesitate?
Having read reviews about this laptop, I wasn't sure about committing. Look, I know $300 is a terrible budget for any kind of reliable, portable computer. I heard that it was "cheaply made" and "had a terrible mouse," and I was nervous that my pithy budget would be a waste. Now that I've owned this Laptop for 2 weeks, I HAVE NO IDEA WHY I HESITATED. The mouse is a laptop mouse. If you're going to use it, you have to understand that it's a laptop mouse and don't expect it to be super high-tech. Personally, I love the scroll ability and i've gotten very used to it by now. This laptop is not cheaply made - my cat knocked it off my lap the very first day and it doesn't even have a scratch. The materials feel durable, and it has that satisfyingly new and shiny look that just help make the superficial aspects of the purchase feel good. As for functionality, it's a tablet with a keyboard. Is that going to be perfect if you're required to run Microsoft Office? Obviously not. But... if you, like me, already have a powerhouse machine for those times you're not just wanting to lounge on the couch and browse the web, you don't need a laptop to handle that. Now I will admit that the Chromebook chokes up at ten or so internet tabs, but that's probably my own fault for trying to run that many. In short, the extra RAM seems like a solid, worthwhile upgrade, particularly if you're as RAM irresponsible as I am, and if your heavy duty computing is handled elsewhere, you will be nothing but pleased with this "second computer" perfection.
the product is pretty good.
The hp Chromebook is a great browsing computer! facebook twitter and youtube work fast and easy! And with free virus protection from Google I don't have to worry about malware or viruses. But the battery life is not amazing around 4 hours. And chrome OS does not run skype or google earth.
sturdy and easy

My son picked this out for me based on my needs and abilities. It's just perfect. I really love it so far. I do wonder why you chose to do the keyboard in lower case, however.
