Best technology money I've spent recently
from Morgan Hill, CA
Comments about Hewlett Packard HP Slatebook x2 10.1" NVidia Tegra 4 Android Tablet with Keyboard Dock:
The best technology money I've spent recently! I bought the Android PC to replace my windows notebook and I have found I can do everything I did with the win notebook, and more. It handles all of my old win notebook tasks (eMail, web browsing, editing photos, word processing) and, of course, it has all the great tablet functions. And, I like the simple things: it honors 'my' home page arrangement; the performance is snappy; screen quality is excellent; good battery life; support for both 5.0 and 2.4 wifi; plenty of room for external storage; familiar keyboard short cuts. The HP engineers hit the mark with this product!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Works for me!
from Erin, TN
I picked this tablet because I like HP products and I didn't want to get a high end tablet. Don't misunderstand, I do like this tablet a lot I am new to working with a tablet and i'm pleasantly surprisedd at how much I can accomplish with it. However I would like to be able to connect a USB device, such as a DVD player...I'm still learning how to do some of these things with the tablet.
Perfect on the road
I wanted a hybrid that was a good tablet and a reasonable laptop. The Android Slatebook X2 delivered the package. It is a fast Android tablet and when docked to the keyboard is a reasonable if small laptop. Both my IPad and Galaxy Note weren't up to true notebook replacements for typing with Bluetooth keyboards. I didn't want to move to Windows 8 and not have access to the apps I like to have on the road. The hardware integrated keyboard creates a seamless laptop replacement and delivers over 12 hours of battery life which is great on the run, in the airport and on the plane. I read a few critical articles about the keyboard being small etc.. but people really need to see this as a 'hybrid' which does away with the need to carry both my tablet and laptop when traveling. Great job HP! For the price it's a steal.
Blazing Speed, Horrible Sound
from Boston, MA
I bought one of these and, really wanted to like it. It has so much going for it but, in the end the horrible sound broke the deal and, I returned it. Pros Tegra 4 Delivers Outstanding Speed Screen Resolution is good Keyboard and Track Pad Work Really Well Overall Battery Life is decent Build Quality is Great! Cons Horrendous sound through earphones. Read the support forums; this is a common issue. I actually went back to the store with my headphones and tried another unit. Same bass-less, harsh, tinny sound. Battery life of tablet alone is poor - keyboard required No cases for tablet only means you need to travel with keyboard - might as well have an ultrabook
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Only needs... Kit Kat
When can we expect Kit Kat? BTW, this thing is great, and the dual battery is nice. I wish the tablet's battery had some more life to it but overall it's really nice. I like the resolution, the performance, the form factor, etc. We also need to put pressure on app makers to have printing or sharing of content so we can ePrint and Cloud Print from more places. Only the plain email program will do it but the gmail and outlook.com apps don't have any printing capability.
Really a cool way to go Android Pad.
from New Mexico
I loved this after I pulled it out of the box and it hasn't been a disappointment yet!!! Works fast and does not mind Bluetooth separate keypad nor Bluetooth speakers. All works great and thanks to the NVIDIA TEGRA CPU it is handling life without a beep. Pricing might be a little high on some views but it depends on how you're planning on using it. Shipping was super fast without any complaints.
Excellent Android detachable
A great Android tablet as a stand alone device - but then add in the base with a real keyboard and extra battery and it takes it to excellent. Highly recommended.

This tablet was shipped very rapidly and I was able to immediately start up, and connect to my wireless. I downloaded several apps (VPN, Telnet, Kindle) and had those operating correctly (with very fast response!). I am impressed with the speed of this tablet, and with the added features not found on other tablets. A very nice keyboard, USB is functional, and I added memory cards to the provided slots. Unit battery life seems to be as advertised, although I have not run it down to see if the 12 hour estimate is accurate, all indications point to a very good battery life. My only negative point for this unit is its non-standard charging connection, it would have been nice to have been able to use one of my other chargers (USB or HP). All in all, a very nice product. Excellent balance of functions
When I travel, I normally carry a laptop to process/save my photos,, usually 2-5 thousand., plus I also access my email via secure VPN. I browse securely to several accounts (bank, etc) so my needs are very specific. I also have a Kindle Fire HD for reading while in airports or otherwise waiting. I have combined all these into this tablet, plus I have the advantage of 12 hours of run time. Plus the two cameras are very useful, the HP app makes them very configurable, plus zoom is nice. My only complaint is the file system, it is difficult to find the files/fotos I save/edit. Maybe an app which emulates the familiar Windows config? Otherwise, this is an advanced piece of computing equipment which I highly recommend. Artur

I would like to have given this product 5-stars being that this is the second iteration, but I'm disappointed in the build quality (plastic shell and can see where it doesn't seal against the screen), lack of GPS (not sure how they could have left this out), 16GB built-in memory (most apps like Google Play Music can't be sent to external memory, also limits in general what you can install on the device) 32GB should have been the minimum & Power consumption (had to install Juice Defender to help with battery...which for a device that doesn't have many hardware extras baffles me...you really need to have the keyboard w/ second battery installed to get long term use). I have found several products from the Android Market that state that "This device isn't compatible" (HD Widgets) due to the lack of GPS or features that a normal cell phone would have. The only shining points I can mention is that the processor is fast, keyboard has a nice tactile feel and the touch-pad is responsive. If you want to surf the internet while connected to your home wi-fi and not do much else and have a solid 10hrs of battery then this is the product for you. Overall, if I could return the product I would and wait for something better.
