Waste of money for this Worst Vacuum cleaner

Comments about Hoover Anniversary WindTunnel® Self-Propelled Bagged Upright:

I purchased this new vacuum cleaner from Amazon right after we were blessed with new baby to make sure we can keep our house clean and allergent free. I researched online and books and found that Consumer Report rated this model as the best for bagged vacuum cleaner. We had premature baby and was at hospital for first few weeks. We wanted to keep our home as clean as possible to avoid any issues after his discharge from hospital. But, it turned out opposite that this new vacuum cleaner wasn't cleaning the carpet at all and couldn't return on time to Amazon as we were busy with our premature baby at hospital. We tried differnt options and height adjustments per instructions in the manual. It is also heavy for ladies to manouever hence I suggest that this will be very bad choice if you are looking for light weight cleaners as the self propelling is just misleading. One of my family member also got rashes because of the dust and allergents for not having good vaccum cleaner. We went through lot of stress and arguments at home for making such grave mistake. Please refrain from buying this model at all if you really want to clean your home.

    Great features!

Comments about Hoover Anniversary WindTunnel® Self-Propelled Bagged Upright:

After reading all the very helpful reviews am glad I purchased this one, It is very noisy but not a problem for this household, I suppose such powerful suction requires a powerful motor.   Very Easy to assemble, I  was very careful with the plastic parts,  just remember not to force anything and it won't break.  The Cord is very long and I love that.  The attached accessories do not get in the way of anything I do. This Vac and The self propel function is perfect for my needs.  I had a great refurbished bagless wind tunnel for years but  really prefer this 'bagged' version due to no dust flying around when replacing the bags. Have had this for 2 weeks,  I keep it on the upstairs level for 4 bedrooms and two large bathrooms, it is perfect but not practical for taking up or down stairs due to the weight when carrying it.  It fits perfectly in the hall linen closet.  I plan to review it  in a few years but I expect this vac be handed down to my heirs.  I use it a couple times a week and will be interested to find out how it works out for  my monthly house cleaners.

I have read the pros and cons regarding this item. I have read the response from Hoover, it sounds like the are trying to justify an inferior product. Over the last 50 yrs I have had different brands of vacuums including Hoover, canister and upright. The best vacuum I have ever had was a Kirby, every attachment you could think of including a sprayer for paint. It was bulky, but over the ten years I had it I never had to replace a belt, a switch, cord or brushes and the suction would almost pick up the carpet.

on my second wind tunnel...plastic parts don't last long.I love the idea of the pet/mini sweeper attachment BUT i am constantly taking it apart to pull the dog hair out of the metal shaft area..flawed design.

After 11 years, still going strong!

We bought this vacuum wen we bought our house in 2003. The pedal broke, the cord wore out, the cord holder fell off. Lol. The vacuum still ran great! We replaced the cord. My husband bought a Oreck dual cleaner team, it has no on-board tools. It has a separate hand-held machine instead. Because it uses  smaller motor for the tools, it would not pick up anything! We sold it. We finally got a new one and I looked for the same one because it worked so well. This is the best vacuum I've ever used! The lights for the "hidden dirt" work great! The bags are cheap and the oiginal filters to this vacuum were washed and re-used for 11 years! Excellent machine!

    Loud is good.

Comments about Hoover Anniversary WindTunnel® Self-Propelled Bagged Upright:

I own 2 of these wonderful machines. I bought a new one then I saw a refurbished one on a auction site for a very low price. I bought the refurb just to have for parts but as far as I can tell the new one won't ever wear out so I'll have 2 perfectly good ones for ever.  By the way the folks sniveling about the loudness need to understand why it's loud. It's loud because the motor is very, very powerful. The delicate, quiet ones won't do anything but just be quiet. Loud = power. Quiet = worthless.

    Too many problems

    By Eugene

Comments about Hoover Anniversary WindTunnel® Self-Propelled Bagged Upright:

Not very old the vacumn would not move forward. Hoover had me take to a service center who made a height adjustment, and said it was fine. Took it home and same problem. Hoover said it was the belts, sent me the belts, I replaced, still didn't work. Hoover sent me to another repair location and I again told them that the self propel feature didn't work. Unit would just suck itself to a low pile carpet and was impossible to move forward or backward. Spent about a 5 weeks driving around, wasting my time and expense with this unit and it still don't work. Finally to Hoovers credit they are replacing the unit so I am waiting again. Hoover needs to get repair shops that know how to diagnose and repair the problems. The unit is still under warranty and these places charge Hoover but don't fix the problem. I suspect that they simply clean the debris and say it's OK. The problem is the self propel feature which is Hoovers fault, but I get to drive around to useless repair places, replace the belts, make calls and get nowhere. Doubt if I will buy a Hoover again.

    Very Disappointing

Comments about Hoover Anniversary WindTunnel® Self-Propelled Bagged Upright:

Bought this self-propelled because the first one we purchased 5 years ago was so good. This one was sooo bad. Engine smoked and belt broke on first use ... didn't work well on thicker carpeting. After first repair - the unit broke again. Came back from repair and started smoking again. Going back - very disappointed in product and repair work.

Some great features - Some not so great

Comments about Hoover Anniversary WindTunnel® Self-Propelled Bagged Upright:

I have had my Hoover-Anniversary WindTunnel Self-Propelled Bagged Upright for almost eight months now and there are just some things that I am finding it hard to live with. The self-propelled feature does make vacuuming easier. I really like the way this vacuum picks up everything and leaves the carpet looking like new. The trouble is that it also pulls out carpet fibers that fill the bag up faster than it should and wrap around the brushes too. This can't be good for our carpet. I have it set on the highest level and that doesn't seem to help. I bought a lot of extra bags since I found out that I can only vacuum the house once before needing to replace the bag. The bags are quite expensive and, so far, I have spent almost half of what I paid for the vacuum on bags and I haven't even had it a year! A real problem is the noise level. We have to wear ear plugs when using the vacuum. The noise decibel level is terrible. I do like my vacuum, it does a good job but I think that it is harming my carpet and it it VERY expensive to buy a bag for each use.

I have had this vacuum for several years and really dislike it. It's heavy (the self-propel broke) and the on-off switch is acting up now. It wants to tip when I use the attachments. Not a good design.
