Another one bites the dust
from Houston, TX, United States
I have had at least six of these machines and every single one has been a dud. The latest is that the one I have had for about a year, and use about once a month, will not turn on. I should give up on the Floormate but there is nothing similar on the market. The quality of these things is truly appalling.

Easy to use!
from Fort Lauderdale, FL, United States
Purchased this small appliance yesterday. This morning I assembled the unit and used to clean 1400 square feet of tile floors. It was very easy to use. It did take several hours, however, my apt has just completed a complete remodel with dust and dirt everywhere. My guess is next time around it will take a lot less time. It worked well in most corners too! My tiles are 24x24 off white rectified porcelain and they are sparkling. Would recommend this product to anyone interested in a hard floor scrubber.

FH40160 Floormate works good!

I use my Floormate everyday and it works good. I have pets on a hard floor and the Floormate is always ready for the clean up. I highly recommend this Hoover Product for all homes.
Work but don't last
I have had three of these machines and loved them. However they have only lasted me about a year because the suction and or the sprayer stops working. When I go to get it fixed I am advised that they cannot be fixed. The product should work for more than a year.
This model is a bad product
from New Braunfels, TX, United States
I have owned several floormates over the last 4 years. I gave the first one to my daughter and bought another one. I loved it and also gave one to my son and bought the latest model - it was blue. It did an amazing job of cleaning my floors but a little over a month ago, the ground pin broke off the plug and stayed in the outlet. My daughter's floormate did the same thing. I bought this model and I am extremely disappointed. The suction won't stay and my floors are horribly dirty even after going over them TWO TIMES!!!
Leaks like crazy
from Palm Bay, FL, United States
I've actually had this thing for over a year but hardly used it because of leaking from day 1. I got by 28th a swiffer most of the time til I recently rescued a dog that's not housebroken. Obviously I need to scrub floors more often. If it still has clean water in it and I step away for a 10 minute break, the entire thing leaks til it's empty. I hate this thing! Why did you have to "improve" the old green one?! I loved those.

I have had Floormates since they first came out. The FH40160 is the best model yet. The footprint is smaller (4 brushes) than my previous FloorMate (7 brushes). I thought I would like the larger footprint, but quickly found it to be too difficult to get around and in between firniture. The smaller footprint is much better. I can even get between the toilet and the tub! I also love the newer design with the tanks on the side. They hold more and are much easier to clean and attach. The main part of my house has wood looking tile which has a 'grain' and this is where the FloorMate is invaluable. It gets into all those little grooves that collect grime and sucks it up. No rinsing. A couple of suggestions for newbies: Wipe the squeegee after every use so it will last longer. A tight fitting squeegee is essential to getting the floor dry quickly. Also, go easy on the detergent. Too much detergent will leave a film amd makes the tile looks dull. Finally, the most common application routine is push in the solution trigger on the forward push and release the trigger as you pull the machine back. If you have a particularly stubborn spot, apply the solution and let it stand for a few minutes before picking it up. If you need to clean your grout manually, be sure to wipe up whatever you use before using the FloorMate so the grout cleaner doesn't get spread all over the floor. Notes to Hoover: I wish the cord were longer. I have to use a heavy duty extension cord with the FloorMate, so I don't have to change outlets so often. Also, I wish the design allowed for the squeegee to be attached separately, like we do with car windshield wipers. Finally, I wish the design allowed the filter to be easily accessed so it could be rinsed and replaced as needed.

Love this item. Just wish you can use the carpet brush with this machine.
Does not spray
By Amanda C
from Cleveland, OH, United States
I bought our FloorMate less than a year ago and have had it serviced 2 times so far because it stopped spraying/emitting from the clean water reservoir. We used it a couple times after it's last repair and now it is not working again. It is cleaned out after every use to avoid clogs and I have tried to troubleshoot various reasons for it to stop spraying. I have not had time to take it in for service again. Not sure if it is worth it or if I should just toss it and buy a better quality product. A relative purchased the same model about 7 months ago and mentioned that his does not consistently spray but has not stopped spraying completely.
