Hoover Floor Mate Must Have Got A BAD ONE

By DeeDeeg

from Bluffton, IN, United States

Comments about Hoover FloorMate Deluxe Hard Floor Cleaner:

Purchased the Hoover FloorMate In April 2014. Quit Working in Oct. 2014 after using about 10 times. Service Says the motor went out and that is not covered in the 1 Year Warranty. I WILL NOT PURCHASE ANOTHER AGAIN.

Hoover FloorMate will not turn on

By south201

from Byron, Georgia, United States

Comments about Hoover FloorMate Deluxe Hard Floor Cleaner:

I bought my Hoover FloorMate less than a year ago at Best Buy and all of a sudden the unit will not turn on. Must be a faulty switch. I don't feel I should have to return the unit and wait for it to be fixed. Less than a year? Come on replace the darn thing.

Poorly Done

By rsrhouston

from Houston, TX, United States

Comments about Hoover FloorMate Deluxe Hard Floor Cleaner:

First FloorMate did a great job the first time then failed to release the cleaning solution the second time I used it.  Replaced at Bed Bath & Beyond with a new one.  Same problem.  Truly frustrating.  Seems like they got the hard part of scrubbing and vacuuming right but could not solve the release-the-solution-on-demand part. When all is working it is a perfect solution....too bad.  Back it goes for a refund.

Sure beats the heck out of a bucket & mop!

By Rock415

Comments about Hoover FloorMate Deluxe Hard Floor Cleaner:

Works great on our laminate flooring.  Using it is almost effortless.  I love the fact that the clean water and dirty water stay separate....no more dipping a clean mop into a dirty bucket of water.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE- 3 months old already issues

By AndreaD4

from Palm Beach Gardens, FL, United States

Comments about Hoover FloorMate Deluxe Hard Floor Cleaner:

So I had the original floormate that was the best ever. I figured after that died, I'd get the new model, new features etc....WOW, what a horrible mistake that was.. First of all, the new design is thoughtless. Not only is the placement of the power on button in an awkward spot, but you have to hold the power cable in your hand or you will continue to run over it with your floormate if you backtrack because it is practically laying on the floor because of where it connects into the unit.....FURTHERMORE, even worse, is that the scrubbing pads only ever so slightly GRAZE the floor, they don't scrub by any means, and so little detergent comes out that literally you can spend 10 minutes on one section and still not be clean. NOTHING NOTHING like the old unit that scrubbed the floor quickly with the perfect amount of fluid.........And to add to all of this, as if you couldn't get worse.............BINGO....it can...three months in...this unit SPEWSSSSSSSSSSSSS water out when you turn it off. By the time you go to move your plug into a new socket (oh, yes, because now the cord is INSANELY short so you have half the range of the old unit) it has dumped out more than HALF of the fluid/detergent in the resevoir all over the floor....................This unit is trash and Hoover should fire the engineers of this supposedly upgraded unit. I guess to cut corners and make more money they made a cheaper, ill thought out unit that you are going to have to replace in a few months.............I wish I could go back to my old one because that was FAR SUPERIOR in every way imaginable than this joke of a machine.........The competition is looking really good.......................

good news/bad news on the floormate

By Snowtracks

from Los Angeles, CA, United States

Comments about Hoover FloorMate Deluxe Hard Floor Cleaner:

I just used my recently purchased Floormate for the first time, on a tile and grout kitchen floor. The good news is that the floor looks better than it has looked in a long time. The bad news is that the Floormate does not clean tile and grout as well as I had hoped. For the past few months, I have been using a friend's Spinscrub--a previous generation Hoover floor gleaning machine. I naturally thought that a next generation machine, like the Floormate, designed specifically for hard floors, would do a much better job on tile and grout, than the Spinscrub. The Floormate does do a better job--but only marginally. Also, sadly, the Floormate does not have a rinse capability, a feature that is available with the Spinscrub. Also annoying, the Floormate dries whether it is in Wash or Dry mode. So you can not give a good scrubbing while the floor is wet with cleaning solution because the machine is always, at least partially, in Dry Mode. Hoover advertises that the Floormate's brushes spin in a counter-rotating fashion. I suppose that counter-rotating brushes will clean better than the same brushes, if they were all rotating in the same direction. Though, even better cleaning, especially in the grout lines, would be achieved if the brushes were not rotating, but reciprocating. Perhaps the next generation Hoover Floormate will have a rinse capability, feature reciprocating brushes, and not be in continuous dry mode. This is a good machine, which gets the job done. However, with a few changes, the Floormate would be a great machine.

Sorry I Bought It

By JanMelloni

from Brentwood, Ca.

Comments about Hoover FloorMate Deluxe Hard Floor Cleaner:

I bought my third FloorMate three months ago, after the second one, which only lasted 6 mos, blew up the motor. Bearings shot. I was really happy with the product until the last two. The current one I have, not only is the motor bearing shot, but it leaks the dirty water all over the floor, the brush heads fall out every time I pick up the machine to move it, doesn't suck up the water very well because the front plastic facing will not adhere to the machine correctly (I have tried many times to correct this), won't clean my tile grout at all, and the On/Off button doesn't consistently work. I thought, the first time I bought the machine that it was a great product, then with the second one, was disappointed when it only lasted 6 mos. It cleans the tile well, but not the grout. Now the third one is not working at all, and I really feel like sending it back to Hoover, with the dirty water in the tank just to make a point. Not happy at all with the product. Waste of money.

Disappointed

By Debdam

from Port Charlotte, FL, United States

Comments about Hoover FloorMate Deluxe Hard Floor Cleaner:

Love that the unit is not as heavy as it's predecessor spinscrub and it does fit under furniture better, but I feel that it does not clean as well and it has less suction. It doesn't clean dried up messes and I find myself putting my foot on the unit to make the brushes clean better. Since day one the brush assembly keeps popping off even after I have it locked. I also find it difficult to attach the nozzle and I find that the cord is shorter. Like the filter but can't seem to remove it to clean it. Overall, it is OK and is still better than a bissel model that I have used. I recommend this machine to someone who is pretty clean or cleans frequently.
