Solid performer and worthy of Kitchenaid brand
from Bellaire, Tx
Comments about KitchenAid 1.4 Cu. Ft. Built-In Microwave - Black:
Bought for about $1,000 from a customer installer store and couldn't be happier with our decision. Made in Sweden and the quality shows throuhout. Performance is best in class and better than many that cost thousands more.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Just a bad purchase.
By Honest Joe

So I want to start with this. Anyone, including myself, who feels that spending over a thousand dollars for a microwave is in some way going to afford them a higher quality product, is in for complete disappointment. The price tag does nothing to the unit but make the entire purchase that much more shameful, at least for myself. I am ashamed I spent this amount of money on something that didn't work from the day it was delivered. Not once. I feel a new unit is in order- deliver me a working unit, that's what I paid for. Not available any longer- the only remedy I was given was in home service or a full refund. Refund wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have a custom cut out in my cabinetry to accommodate this special 100 lb paperweight. The replacement model for this would cost me hundreds of dollars more, only to come out of my pocket. Not to mention the 3 hrs I'm being billed by my contractor to remove it and refit a new or replacement unit. I'm sorry, I'm not a fan of the service received on such a premium product. For those of you thinking a custom built in microwave is a good idea, talk to your cabinet guy first and see if they can build you a cabinet and door to conceal a countertop micro instead. It may not look as nice, but you will always be able to purchase another microwave to fit in that space and you won't have to worry about a replacement down the road being twice as much to repair or replace.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Came with new home and works well!
Not worth the price.
I bought this to replace a previous built-in KitchenAid microwave that lasted 13 years. Within the first week, the turntable exploded. KitchenAid sent a replacement, but it took over a month to receive it. Because it was cooking so slow, I called KitchenAid to complain. Over the next 10 months they sent out various repair people who slowly replaced several parts, but it is still much slower than my old one and the fan is still noisy and rattlely. Even a $99 dollar countertop microwave I borrowed from my office to use during the "down times" while waiting for parts, was much faster and quieter. After all the repairs, microwave popcorn which used to cook in 1 minute in the old one, takes 4 and 1/2 minutes with this one. And if you use the popcorn button, it will shut off before a single kernel has popped. Pros: Looks nice. Cons: Slow, Noisy, Expensive, Downward opening door.

we remodeled our kitchen and didn't want the micro to set on the counter the built-in micro is perfect, in the cabinet out of the way and donn't have to worry about spilling any hot liquid on me while taking the bowl out.

This microwave came with a KitchenAid appliance package installed in our new house. I love KitchenAid and had previously remodeled a kitchen with all KitcheAid products, so had no concerns. The good: Once you learn how to use them, the controls are easy, especially the turn knob that is speedier than buttons. The bad: The oven has a fan that runs after you remove food. And it runs long and loud! It's much noisier than any other appliance I have ever had, so much so that it disrupts the TV in the next room! My husband would replace it if I would let him.
ease of use. Nice design. Good features.
Two months ago we bought the microwave and we are happy. It is very convenient.

Both my daughter and I purchased the same kitchenaid appliances as we were both remodeling at the same time. Seems so much quicker than last microwave.
