Complicated foggy but gets the job done
from Philly suburbs
Comments about Kitchen-Aid 1.8 Cu. Ft. Over-The-Range Microwave - Stainless Steel:
The functions for other than microwaving are complicated and cumbersome. Also why does it fog up so much?
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Have had this for 6 months, REALLY like it. It looks very great, works really good & it is everything I thought it would be. The only hang up is that is showed up with the handle discolored.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Have not used all the features of it yet, just have used the microwave feature but so far have not had any problems
Fan is useless
from MD, United States
I bought this to go where a range hood was previously installed. The microwave part is fine but the fan draw is awful. The fan draw is pathetic when above a stove, steam, smoke from cooking is just not sucked up even though the fan is blowing outside. Terrible design the draw is horrible causing moisture to develop all around the microwave when boiling water and smoke from grease to travel all the way up the cabinets.
Wanted this as convection oven, not microwave
from Benton, AR
So it doesn't do exactly what I wanted. Convection cooking takes much longer than I anticipated, and once you cook something, the fan stays on a long time (and it's not very quiet.) It's hard to figure out some of the controls, like I still haven't figured out cooking time so that it stops automatically. It was one of few choices among over-the-stove convection/microwave combinations, so it may be the best available. But I would hope manufacturers would get better on the convection end of things.

I love this microwave. and with the convection feature it's great for small baking dishes when a full sized oven isn't needed.

My wife has been very happy with he whole set of kitchenette appliances including this microwave.

We remodeled our kitchen a few months ago and after a lot of research and review reading, we chose KitchenAid. This is our first stainless suite and my husband and I both love the look. Performance is spot on. This micro/hood combination has the convection option and I have used it several times already. It is perfect for baking small quantities...no need to use the oven for a couple of potatoes! The cool down fan after use is noisy and our kitchen, dining and living space are all in one, the great room concept, so it is audible to all. However, the fan runs less than five minutes so by the time everything is at the table and we are seated the fan is usually off. A little noise for a lot of convenience, I can live with it.
magnatron replaced on brand new unit
from Magnolia, TX
I purchased this microwave in April and from the day it was installed it made a buzzing noise. Found out from Kitchen Aid chat line that the magnatron needed to be replaced! Not happy about purchasing a brand new product and it needed servicing. I replaced our GE Profile microwave that was 9 years old and it was still working perfectly! Reason for replacing a perfectly good one was to update it and match our KitchenAid double oven and dishwasher we already had.

I have been without a microwave for years due to lack of kitchen counter space and I was adamant that a microwave had to be part of my kitchen redesign. We purchased this over the range model and love it! It is not only a microwave but a convection oven too! I love the features - it is roomy and I find the preset cooking times a great help. The sensing feature is a plus!
