      Completely Frusturating Refrigerator!

Comments about Kitchen-Aid 19.6 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Monochromatic Stainless Steel:

Before I purchased a refrigerator, I did a lot of research. I narrowed my choices down and chose this Kitchen Aid. I've owned it for exactly one year (purchased 8/13/13). Things I hate about this refrigerator: 1) French doors have are flimsy with no weight 2) door bins are made of cheap plastic and have already broken off the glides 3) very, very noisy; constant hissing noises. I had a repair tech come out and he said these noises were "normal". If sleep isn't important to you, then you'll be fine; unfortunately for me, I like to sleep. 4) Freezer door is too light and never closes shut properly so if you don't slam the door shut, it won't close all the way. This leads to freezing over and the internal fan starts making a continuous, loud noise. I have to thaw out the freezer which takes 24+ hours. This happens all of the time. Do yourself a favor, don't buy this fridge.

      GREAT FRIDGE.

Comments about Kitchen-Aid 19.6 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Monochromatic Stainless Steel:

I bought this fridge about a month ago and it has impressed me very much. With the freezer on the bottom , it is so much easier to reach things in the fridge part as it is all at eye level . The compartments for storing fruits and veggies is humidity controlled and keeps the items fresh longer than my old fridge and the fresh meat compartment has a cold or colder setting to keep your sliced meats fresher longer for you to enjoy using on your sandwiches. The two bins [stacked ] in the freezer allow you to store a lot more stuff as it gives you two levels in which to use . The stainless steel casing is easy to clean and resists the little one's fingerprints. I would recommend this refrigerator to anyone as it is truly what we are looking for in a refrigerator.

Nice looking, some good features, disappointing problem and warranty repair time

Comments about Kitchen-Aid 19.6 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Monochromatic Stainless Steel:

Bought the fridge in Jan 2014. Love the look and size and most features. Interior water dispenser allows for more door storage than units with exterior dispenser. Ice maker works great. Adjustable split shelving seems like a great idea in the showroom but does not work well in reality. Splitting the shelf allows for tall items up front but then you have to remove all the tall items to store or get to the short stuff. If you don't split the shelves there is not enough height between them. Removing the middle shelf leaves you with only 2 levels. So we end up splitting one shelf and mostly wasting the back space. After 6 months the fridge developed a leak from the water filter dispenser. We had to turn off the water supply to the fridge because it would leak significantly when using the water dispenser (and whenever the ice maker would kick in to make more ice). Called for service and repair company came over in reasonable time. Problem was quickly diagnosed (new water filter housing and tubing) and estimated that parts would arrive within 5 business days. 3 weeks later no phone call. Called service company and was told parts were backordered and that they would call when parts were available. 2 more weeks and still no call. Called service company again and they contacted manufacturer. Parts are backordered until October!! No ice maker and filtered water dispensing for 4 months!! Those 2 features were very important to us when making our purchase decision. Very disappointing. Would recommend if this is not a common problem.

I bought this 2 months ago replacing a 12 year old side by side whirlpool that was starting to run noisier than when new. My new kitchenaid makes a noise when it first cuts in apparenty nothing can be done I was told you could line up 5 of this product and two out of the five would be like mine and the other 3 fine so not sure why I would have to have a noisy one. The noise don't last long when it cuts in but happens everytime so its consistant noise you here. I should of kept my whirlpool.

We bought this for a replacement and we are not impressed with it. The fridge shelves are way to small to fit anything on

      Perfect for limited space

Comments about Kitchen-Aid 19.6 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Monochromatic Stainless Steel:

We purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator at the recommendation of an appliance repairman. The top refrigerator allows you to see everything easily and has eliminated the problem of having to throw away food that we could not see and had forgotten. The bottom freezer drawer holds more than our previous top freezer and the two levels and divided lower drawer allow for better organization. Because our house is 30 years old, we have limited space for a refrigerator without cutting or removing built-in oak cabinets which we did not want to do. This refrigerator fits our limited space and the french doors obviously take less space when opened. While I am perfectly satisfied with this appliance, it is important to remember that because it is one of the smaller models, it does not necessarily offer some of the big refrigerator features. For example, don't expect to fit a gallon of milk and a half gallon of OJ in one of the door shelves. However, the shelving allows flexibility to fit your needs; it just took me a little while to figure out what worked best for us.

I have had the refrigerator for 2 months and the freezer door and one side of the refrigerator door are rusting. I expect that the doors will be replaced but I'm not happy that we have to go through that. Also, the ice maker does not produce enough ice.

      Great Fridge for its size

      By arifried

Comments about Kitchen-Aid 19.6 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Monochromatic Stainless Steel:

I purchased this fridge because I needed a fridge that could fit a very narrow space and this fit the bill. I am happy with the fridge in terms of its noise level (pretty quiet), the ice maker (a bit slow to make ice, but adequate for our needs), and shelving space. I was unhappy with the quality of the shelves though as they seem to be made out of cheap plastic. So far, I've had this fridge for two months and they seem to be holding up OK.

I have had this fridge for 6 weeks now. I am pleased with all its features and surprised how much storage there is for this size of fridge. The bottom freezer drawer is great. Appreciate that the unit is so quiet.
