Comments about KitchenAid 2.0 Cu. Ft. Over-The-Range Microwave - Stainless Steel:
3 years old and it went crazy. Turning on by itself in the middle of the night, dead display, then finally died. Repair company tried 5 times to fix it, several replacement parts ordered, even taking it to their shop for 2 weeks. This thing is absolute garbage and I will NEVER by Kitchenaid again!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Big combo for a big space
from Lake Texoma TX
Our house was pre cut for larger appliances in the kitchen so we were limited in our choices. The kitchenaid combo fit the application and I am glad it did. Nice looking and great even cooking. Quiet fan operation and plenty of light for the cook top.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Piece of Junk
from Chicago, IL
Less than two years old, installed in condo only occupied 15 weeks a year.Catastrophic exhaust fan failure after (of course) 13 months. Now catastrophic microwave door failure - unit won't lock/runIt's no wonder everyone's buying Samsung. Kitchenaid used to be a reliable, high-end brand. No more.

Dissapointing Product Experience
from Houston, TX
We experienced severe arcing after just 2 1/2 years of service and was quite concerned regarding safety. Called Kitchenaid/Whirpool to try to arrange for service. Authorized service provider indicated that the Magnetron, Cover, and possibly inverter must be replaced. We have an estimate of $400 and if inverter has to be replaced, another $141. I am a very unhappy Kitchenaid customer. This should not happen to a 2 1/2 year old unit.

Broken after 3 years
from Greenville, SC
We had this microwave installed when our home was built. It was an over-$1,000 option. For a microwave! My parents bought a microwave when they built their home too... In 1981. It was Maytag...it still works.Ours does not. It just out of nowhere began not heating very quickly. We have tried using different heat settings, there seems to be no easy fix. After doing a Google search it appears that this is common. And looking online, there doesn't appear to be a reliable fix. Trying to fix it involves spending hundreds of dollars to have someone come out and try to fix it, then failing and leaving you several hundred dollars more out of pocket as you begin to search for a replacement. With a $200 microwave, maybe I would grudgingly accept it as getting what you pay for, but this is kitchen aid and over a thousand dollars. You may win the short term battle kitchen aid, by not acknowledging this known problem and correcting it for your customers. But you lost the war with me. I have a Bosch dishwasher and Samsung refrigerator that I love. Guess what brands of microwave I will be looking at to replace this kitchen aid?

So I bought the unit and installed it (partially) and discovered one of the internal nuts was missing so I could not support it from the cabinet. Called Kitchenaid, they were nice and sent out a service tech. He did know how to fix it, called another guy who told him it was just a loose nut (no clue...). Supposedly ordered the part, have not heard from them in two weeks now. So my new microwave is supported by a 2x4 from the counter. A real nice conversation piece for my new kitchen.

Was looking for an 36in microwave over range that was stylish, had good cooking watts as well as outside venting options. The Kitchenaid cook top definitely fit the bill. Thanks Kitchenaid!
