Failed twice in 1 year

Comments about KitchenAid 2.0 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave - Stainless Steel:
I bought this a little over a year ago. Had dealer replace door sensors and keypad control board a couple months later because it would not operate with door open error. Now it a couple months out of warrantee and it's doing the same thing again. Will work gone for a while then refuse to turn on because it thinks the or is open. Dealer reached out to kitchenaid who will not do anything about it. Dealer is largest in Chicago area, they are going to diagnose it and see what can be done. At least I am getting good service from them!Normally sending repairman plus parts will practically cost as much as new one. This is a premium product?
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I love the microwave! My only concern is that I wish the exhaust fan would run as an option instead of cutting on automatically. It also will not even allow me to put the exhaust fan on a lower level once it cuts on to remove the hot air from the kitchen. That makes it loud when trying to cook with family and friends gathered around.

Like my new microwave
from Burlingame, California
I bought this microwave to complete my new set of all new stainless appliances. I like the look and it is easy to use. The only negative thing I have to say is that I wish it had a feature that my last microwave (GE brand) had. My old brand allowed you to quickly pick 1 minute cook time by pushing just the number 1 on the control panel. No other buttons were necessary. 2 minutes of cook time was started by simply pushing the number two etc. this could be done all the way all up to nine minutes. This microwave doesn't have that feature so you need to push a few extra buttons to do the same job. Not a big deal but a simple feature that would have been nice to have and obviously easy enough to include.

Love that there are buttons to soften/melt and so many options that are pre-programmed in. The only thing that can be a pain is the extra shelf - it's good to have but gets in the way of some taller bowls. I know you just take it out, but wish there was a way to fold it back or up and away when you need to instead of completely removing it. That's really my only complaint.
