Comments about KitchenAid 2.2 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave - Black with Stainless Steel:
Purchased this microwave less than two years ago (along with the installation kit) as part of a kitchen remodel. I like white appliance but my new jenn-air cook top only comes in Black. This model is white with a back glass that worked well with my kitchen. Worked fine one minute and the next it was sparking and flaming. Seems like it should have lasted a few years longer.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Had it for about 2-1/2 years. One day, heard a loud spark and it stopped working. Called repair guys and paid for the visit. They said that the magnetron is not working. They were going to replace it. However, for this particular model, that part is not available. So, the only option is for us to buy a new one. This is the second KitchenAid product that gave us trouble. We had to replace a part of the dishwasher as well earlier. At least we were able to get the part for it. Our builder chose this brand. Since every other appliance in the kitchen is of the same brand, we cannot just buy a better microwave from a company that we prefer.
Very disappointed, low quality

I bought this 3 years ago and stopped working already. It doesn't lived up with my expectation on your company and what your products promised to be.

Purchased a new home with upgraded KitchenAid appliances one year ago. One week after the 1 year limited warranty expired the microwave door would not open. Called KitchenAid to fix the microwave, they do not fix counter microwave nor do they sell the parts for someone else to fix them. Wrote Kitchenaid a letter and talked to several rep's, no one could help us. Apparently this microwave is considered a throwaway, so if you have a choice do not buy this microwave.
Disappointed with KitchenAid low quality and integrity

Almost immediately after installation, the touch panel started to bubble, especially around the "Start" button. The material is very low quality, and does not tolerate even moderate usage. We are very disappointed with this microwave oven, and with the lack of support from KitchenAid.

Very Cheap Product
from Denver, CO
I bought this to replace an 8 year old KitchenAid microwave that began to fail. My kitchen is complete with a full range of stainless products from KitchenAid. All of those products work well and have a solid look and feel to them. Moreover, they have a consistent look of quality across the entire line. When I bought this microwave and its respective trim kit, I expected to receive the same, if not better, quality in the products. I was very disappointed in the cheap quality of the microwave - I am sure it functions fine, but the plastics and fit/finish is terrible. The door is not mounted well and is crooked. The button to push to open the door wobbles and feels very much like an afterthought. The trim kit is terrible. It's not stainless steel like my prior trim kit - it's entirely made of plastic with the "look" of stainless. Very cheap - very much a sign of a company taking short cuts to produce a branded product, fabricate it as cheap as possible, but still charge the premium costs. If you value your kitchen and appreciate quality, then highly recommend somebody do not buy these products. If you do, you'll only continue to push KitchenAid to produce cheap products and still charge a premium. Very unhappy with these products.

We bought this microwave for a kitchen remodel, I was so excited to get all new kitchen aid appliances, but within 3 months the plastic on the front of the microwave has started to bubble up around the start button. It doesn't look good at all. If I knew this was going to be a problem I would have bought a different brand or model that doesn't have the plastic film. If Kitchen Aid has a way to fix this problem, please advise.

Have great features

It works great and features everything a microwave should have. The plastic covering on the control panel started coming off after wiping it a few times. It was produced and placed in such a way that I didn't know it was meant to be taken off and the manual didn't state that. I had to call the store where it was purchased to find this out. Maybe you could include something to clarify this in the manual. The control panel needs lettering etc. brighter white so its easier to see and use.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I bought this microwave for my new home. The functions available a nice. Im a little disappointed in the cooking power, seems like my last 1200 watt microwave was more powerful.
