We built a new house and chose all Kitchenaid appliances. After 6 months the microwave ceased to function. We contacted the dealer and the microwave was replaced with the same model since it was under warranty. The microwave cooks fine but here's hoping it will last.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Large Capacity is a Plus
from Lake Lure, NC
When recently remodeling our kitchen, we decided to go with all Kitchen Aid appliances. The extra large capacity along with the beautiful looks of this microwave is what sold us. Highly recommend!

Doesn't offer an adequate menu. You can program in settings for food that you frequently cook, but no way to indicate which is which. you have to remember what number is associated with that particular food item you want to cook. The key pad does not light up so you have to turn light on in room just to use. For the price of over $400 does not live up to expectations.
Great size and so easy to use.

BUY ANOTHER BRAND! Kitchen-Aid ain't what it used to be
By Burned By Bad Quality
from Evanston, IL
The 2011 equivalent of this model which we purchased with a Kitchen Aid double wall oven required ANNUAL REPAIRS-- it died once again this year (2015). "Customer Service" claimed that repair parts are no longer available (really? the authorized repair services have them) So the best "offer" is a discount for replacement--which turned out to be the same price as in a local store?! To add insult to injury, trim kits are no longer made for this model, requiring an additional $150 expense to accommodate the slightly taller size of the replacement model. It is infuriating that a company which purports to sell a premium brand will not stand behind its reputation when a lemon happens. The Kitchen-Aid name isn't worth the stainless steel it's printed on with that kind of disregard for brand reputation. Replace the unit or offer it at true cost.
expensive to repair
My microwave heating element burnt out three times in 5 years. The first time my home warranty paid, the second time it cost me $200 for the repair. It fits in a cabinet, which is why I repaired it twice, but this time Im just going to buy another brand and modify my cabinet.

We bought this microwave as part of a total kitchen remodel. It does the job beautifully. It is very quiet, even if you are standing next to it. The turntable and interior are easy to clean. It looks nice in the kitchen, and has a wide range of cooking shortcuts (like "reheat pizza") that are very useful. The repeat button gives you 30 seconds rather than one minute, as my old KitchenAid microwave did, but this one seems to heat much better than the old one. There is also a timer feature that you can use for other things, such as steeping tea, etc. My only complaint is that the buzzer that tells you your item is ready beeps an annoying 5 times, and if you are using the timer feature, you have to press the cancel button to get it to turn off. Other than that, a great purchase.
OLDER VERSION BETTER

This model shows more streaks & marks on the stainless steel. Harder to clean & keep up with. It always looks dirty. Also the buttons aren't as easy to press as the older model. This model is so large & oversized. I preferred the size of the older model it was just right. I'm certainly not going to cook a roast in this current size. It's ease of use it just not as user friendly as the previous Kitchen Aid model. Not that thrilled with this microwave. They should have stuck to what was already a great microwave! Their older model.Kitchen Aid.., NEW ISNT ALWAYS THE BEST☹️
Previous KitchenAid died just after warranty. Home owners warranty required I purchase another unit just like the one that died as it was still in production. Poor manufacturing quality and high noise levels makes this a unit to pass up. KitchenAid once was a product to rely upon, but alas, no more.
