Good for the size
By Linda from LA

I bought this for a house that we are remodeling. I was used to 48 inch refrigerators and was worried about downsizing to 36. It seems fine and very roomy. I bought this because it said it was counter depth but my contractor was not able to install it back far enough for it to fit in and be counter depth. The doors are very wide and would not have been able to open. Now it sticks out and I am very unhappy with the way it looks. Also I went with custom panels instead of stainless and am very disappointed with the look. There is a big space between the bottom drawer and the main part of the refrigerator.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Love the deli tray
from San Diego, CA
I love the look of my refrigerator with my cabinet doors instead of just black doors. The water inside is convenient and I just love the large deli tray that pulls out for easy access.

Love it! But it is not a "built in" look unless you make upp
from North East, PA, United States
Great unit. Spacious interiors, the ice maker is impressive and even comes with a cool ice scoop that stores in the ice bucket. The little interior water dispenser was a nice surprise as it flows great and offers fairly cold filtered water. PANEL-READY UNITS - prepare for additional installation costs, and having to buy additional materials to get your cabinet panels to fit correctly. My installer had to make a run to HD to buy two different sheets of material to pack out the correct size to install the panels. Kitchen Aid doesn't really prepare you for this extra step until the unit arrives and you realize you don't really have everything needed to install the cabinet doors. ALSO - get your above-the-refrigerator cabinet the right width if you have side panels for a built-in look. The fridge is wider than 36 inches when the doors are opened, so if you expect this to look like it is built-in, it will not be, it will STICK OUT A FEW INCHES. Surprise! You'll need an additional 1-1/2" on each side for the doors to open without hitting your side panels. KitchenAid is not clear enough on how wide this fridge is when the doors are open. If your upper wall cabinet is 1-1/2" higher than the fridge, and you leave 1-1/2" on each side, you can push this all the way in, and it will really make it look "built-in".
Just What We Needed
from Indiana, United States
We had to find a refrigerator that would accept custom panels when our old one went out. This is about the only one out there, unless you have room for a larger Sub Zero, etc. We are happy with it (after 4 months), especially considering we got it for about 1/2 of the retail price online through a major outlet because it had a scratch on the side. Of course, that makes no difference to us since it is built in. Be aware that it does not come with handles, and you can put hundreds of dollars intothem alone! Per other comments, yes, you hear when ice drops. Big deal! The produce drawers are much smaller than we're used to because they slant forward in the back. Water dispenser is inside which is not ideal, but we are used to it now. And yes, it sticks out from your other cabinetry, but that is because the doors need room to open. Even at that, they will not open all the way back without pulling it out even further. If you need a door with panels, this one is fine.

Nice option for custom panels
from Wisconsin, United States
I love the way my new custom panel refrigerator looks and happy I bought it but there are a couple things I was not expecting. My contractor installed the door panels and they are not completely level and a little bothersome. There is no way to adjust the brackets that hold the panels so we are stuck. Most people say they do not notice but not happy that nothing can be done. The biggest issue I have with this "counter depth" unit it how far it sticks out from the counter. I knew the doors would be beyond the countertop but you can add another 2-3 inches (minimum). The water line in the back of the refrigerator is installed facing toward the wall, instead of to the side, and you cannot adjust or it kinks the line. This adds 1.5- 2 inches more depth. For the price, I am great with this unit. Still a good value if you can allow for additional depth.

I love this refrigerator!
from Grand Rapids, MI, United States
I bought this refrigerator as part of a partial remodel of my kitchen this fall. I am very happy with my purchase. Every feature works as described and it is very convenient to access both refrigerator and freezer items.

water & filter system
from Windsor, VT
I wish we could have eliminated this feature. It takes up precious space especially in the vegie drawers. Otherwise, everything else is great.
Overall great fridge
from New Jersey, United States
Great fridge overall! Was more than a little disappointed that it was not offered in stainless steel ...this style was only available in black!?! I was deceived by all the pics with stainless handles! The size is on the smaller side, but that comes with counter depth...overall pleased though!
