      Just one thing.....

Comments about Kitchen-Aid 21.8 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Stainless Steel:

Very pleased with my Kitchenaid fridge. Love the bottom freezer....love the space in the fridge and the huge drawer that holds all that stuff that just doesn't fit on a shelf. I only have one thing I am not too happy with. The lid on the wide slide out drawer is pretty flimsy...so easy to drop something on it and snap off the plastic pane which is not well anchored. Would have only taken a little effort and very little money to have made it a little more sturdy. The rest of the fridge is awesome. However, will still recommend.

      Great fridge

Comments about Kitchen-Aid 21.8 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Stainless Steel:

We've had this fridge for over a year now and it has been working flawlessly. The build quality is top notch. Love the industrial looking handles on this model. It was a bit pricey, but very satisfied with this fridge. We are a family of 3 and it's just the right size. We don't like stuffing our fridge, always leaving some space around the contents so we can clearly see what's inside. Leaving space helps the LED light reach all corners of the interior. We like the freezer on the bottom as it brings the fridge compartment to eye level. The fridge compartment gets the most use so this layout makes a lot of sense - no need to crouch down. The freezer could use a little more capacity in my opinion. The freezer compartment may look big from the outside, but the ice cube maker actually takes up close to 1/4 of the space. The water dispenser is inside the fridge as opposed to outside on the door surface. It's a cleaner look that we prefer. There is a water filter hidden inside the fridge that will let you know when it needs to be replaced. The filtered water goes to the water dispenser and the ice cube maker.

Comments about Kitchen-Aid 21.8 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Stainless Steel:

We are in the midst of a complete gut and re-do of our tiny 110 Sq.Ft. residential kitchen, and as life-long foodie and a current Culinary Arts Student (back in school at 45 years old is scary) I have some pretty stringent requirements. I want it done once and done right. I don't mind spending a few more dollars up front, to not have any regrets later. Every inch of floor-space, and counter-space is precious and our architect and I fretted over every detail. After exhausting research, and pawing over floor models for literally weeks, there was really only one unit that I knew I would be satisfied with. Our new fridge showed up two weeks earlier than expected, so I did a mad-dash to completely empty our jam-packed old fridge. When the installers left we re-packed it all into the KFCP22EXMP,and there was plenty of room to spare. The interior is so well laid out, and we absolutely love the large pull out deli drawer. Seriously, there is almost too much room, because I see all this empty space and feel the compulsion to go shopping and fill it up. The interior lighting is phenomenal, there is not a dim corner anywhere. It is taking some time to get used to opening the door to get water, and the freezer for ice, but for the added interior space normally sacrificed for this convenience, I'll happily adjust to the change. I am very happy with my decision and have no serious regrets. The inconveniences I have found so far: 1) The divider in the lower freezer bin. I would really love to be able to adjust it side-to-side, or remove it completely. 2) The water dispenser always leaks 3 or 4 drops of water after the flow is stopped. If you remove your cup too quickly these drips fall directly on the face of the deli-drawer. 3) The sound of the water filling the ice-maker is surprisingly loud.

        Defective

Comments about Kitchen-Aid 21.8 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Stainless Steel:

I purchased this in spring 2011. Since then i have had a leak due to a defective check valve into the condenser pan. water ran out of the freezer drawer ruining my hardwood floor. after further research, this is a top complaint about this refrigerator. also, it is impossible to clean the coils on the bottom since there is not any room to insert a cleaning instrument of any kind. it does seem to keep food longer without spoiling, it also freezes a lot of food in the refrigerator section. i am truly disappointed.

Comments about Kitchen-Aid 21.8 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Stainless Steel:

This refrigerator represent great value for the price - it is a pro-style counter-depth refrigerator that has pretty good capacity (for being counter-depth). However, it does tend to run a bit noisy, especially audible at night. The ice-maker makes sudden noises - both when it draws water in to make ice and when its done making ice, takes a little while to get used to.

Couldn't be more pleased with the features and styling of the pro line refrigerator. The water inside the door adds to sleek look and goes well with our professional range and hood from a different manufacturer.

                  French doors don't work well

                  • lef door doesn't stay open
                  • left door doesn't shut without being pushed

                  Best Uses

Comments about Kitchen-Aid 21.8 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Stainless Steel:

The french doors are a disaster. The left door never stays open, so it bangs you as you load, or worse, you open it, turn around to grab stuff, and it shuts. You can't open the right crisper drawer without both doors being open. The left door has this big flap that means you have to actively push the door shut. That flap is also what keeps the crisper or bottom drawer from opening. The refrigerator part works fine, but I'd expect so after 100 years or so of making them. If I had an option to change to a single door from the french door, I'd do it right now. If I could replace it with a counter depth single door of similar size, I'd do that as well. Any convenience of the smaller french doors is lost by the constant aggravation they cause. Other niggles: Not particularly quiet. Good things; interior cold water dispenser, freezer drawers.
