Comments about KitchenAid 21.9 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Stainless Steel:
As mentioned in other reviews, the freezer door does not close properly and ices up inside. I have had to wait 8 weeks to get a new one which arrived and didn't work. Now I have to wait another 8 weeks for another door. This all started August of 2015. It's now January 2016. Whirlpool seems to have wrecked Kitchenaid quality that once was.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Best we've ever had!
By Keeping it Cool
from Dallas, TX
After 47 years of marriage, and I don't know how many refrigerators, this is the BEST we've ever had, both for looks and for function. All moving parts are solid. Looks like a built in. Love the ice drawer and interior water--very cold. there's just nothing we would want different.

We love the storage space and the design of our new fridge. We initially had trouble regulating the temperature with issues of freezing items on the top shelf. We think we have it figured out now. The ice machine and water dispenser is great for our family. The French doors have no issues with closing- good design. I love the produce drawers - the food stays fresher longer.

Well designed !
from Staunton VA
Had this fridge 4 months ago we love it especially the interior water dispenser, what a great idea to put it inside the door as you don't have to worry about it getting as dirty as an exterior one! Plus counter depth is the way to go if you have limited kitchen space. Good fridge, (it will be a great fridge if it last 20 years) , Eddie Staunton VA
Roomy But One Problem
from Mesa, AZ
This is a nice, roomy refigerator. The only problem is that I don't like how the two doors close. The left door doesn't always close properly and has to be manually manipulated to close it properly.
A smart practical purchase
from Edmonton, AB
We bought this fridge a month ago and we are very pleased with our purchase. The interior water tap is exactly what we wanted, a useful option that takes up much less space than a door dispenser. The shelves are well organized, and we especially like the bottom fridge tray for eggs and cheese. The three trays in the freezer make our items more accessible, and the ice tray scoop is great. This is our first counter-depth fridge and we're never going back. We highly recommend this fridge.

We installed the KitchenAid French Door refrigerator in our last home and loved it so much that we purchased another for our new home. We love the water dispenser inside because it eliminates splashes on the stainless doors experienced with models that have the exterior dispenser. The counter depth model looks great in our new kitchen. We would buy another if we move again.

Love this Frig
from Westlake Village, CA.
After a lot of researching and planning our kitchen remodel is finally complete. Love the French door style and bottom freezer. I'll have to re-think my approach to food shopping and storage, but knew that going in (counter depth is a little shallower than the side by side we replaced),but frozen pizza boxes still fit! Very quiet and it looks fabulous. Lots of complements.

We replaced an identical model. Cleaning crew damaged all three doors with their spray solution. However!!!This model arrived with right door light switch not working, and ice maker making smaller than normal cubes.

Lots of problems early on
By Polly B
from Valley Forge, PA
We bought this fridge in March 2015 as part of a new kitchen construction. We began to use it around Memorial Day. By September, the left side French door was malfunctioning. The seal/bumper on the door had come loose and the guide attached to top of the door no longer lined up with the opening on the fridge, which meant that to open or close the door, you had to manually move the guide into place. The first service call resulted in a tech telling me I had put too many heavy items on the left door and that I had unbalanced the fridge. ???? I never had this problem with other refrigerators. So I moved the heavy items to the right side door, he reattached the seal/bumper that had come loose, and we were good to go. Less than a month later, the same problem happened again. Note that this fridge is used by myself and my husband and occasionally by our adult daughter and we all work full time so no one is opening the fridge during the day. I don't have teenage boys opening it 75 times a day or swinging on it for fun. The second tech said the weight on the doors wasn't an issue, but the fridge wasn't balanced evenly. He fixed that and also pulled it out a little bit so the doors didn't come in contact with the cabinets on either side. So I have had two service issues within 5 months of use. After this experience. I decided to buy a 5-year warranty on the fridge, because I have no confidence the door seals will last or perform correctly past its one-year warranty. In other respects, it is a great appliance. I like the deep, adjustable shelves and it is easy to clean. I like the bottom freezer, although it seems to me to hold less than my old top freezer, perhaps because of all the drawers. They do make it easy to find things. Given the price of this unit, I don't think I made a smart choice buying it. I am hoping I won't have any further problems with the French doors, but I am not too optimistic. I believe there was a redesign shortly after I bought this mode. Perhaps the door issue was corrected in the new model.
