Full of poor design issues
By Disappointed Customer
from Vancouver, WA
Comments about KitchenAid 24.8 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Monochromatic Stainless Steel:
We purchased this a year ago, when our old fridge died suddenly. It looks pretty & hold lots of food, but there are MANY little issues that are frustrating. I'd NEVER have bought this model if I'd have known all these issues. We erroneously trusted the Kitchenaid brand. *Left door won't shut all the way on it's own. It always catches & you have to push it closed the rest of the way.*Inside water button ergonomically designed wrong, button is above spigot so you have to use 2 hands to fill container, at a sideways awkward angle.*Right crisper drawer won't open unless BOTH front doors are open.*Filter mechanism is bulky & blocks part of the interior.*Shiny front surface shows EVERY fingerprint/smudge. Side panels have a pattern on them that disguises much better.*It's VERY noisy, lots of humming/buzzing/whirring/gurgling noises. Not "loud" volume wise, but makes all kinds of sounds, where we rarely heard our old model.Seriously wish we'd have picked something else.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Great Refrigerator, Bad Gaskets
We've had the refrigerator for 2 years and are very happy with it, however the door seals are completely shot. This should not happen in such a short time. I'm guessing that the wear put on them by the french doors was not considered in the design.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Nice Design But Some Issues
from Albany, NY
Have had this refrigerator for almost a year. We are very happy with the space layout - many options for storage and excellent access. Issues - Each ice cube it makes produces a loud clunk. - Ice is in the back of the freezer, so must pull the drawer out all the way to get a few cubes.- You can barely hear the warning sound if door is ajar.- There is a very low level high pitch sound all the time.- The freezer drawer is hard to pull out and push in when full (which it always is).- Filtered ice water spout is inside on our model and pours very slowly. You must leave the door open the whole time you are filling a glass. So, we never use it.
Efficient,quiet and appealling.

I am enjoying my new KitchenAid Refrigerator. I like the purified water and it is very roomy. I heard it has a good reputation.
Love my new Fridge!

I love my new side by side fridge. The storage space is great and there is plenty of room for everything.

We are very happy with our purchase. The ice maker is sluggish, but we are having no problem getting it replaced. Kitchenaid has been wonderful to work with.
Works great, Looks Grear!
from Paso Robles, Ca
This unit came down to proper operating temps quickly and has stayed there consistently. The previous frig needed constant attention to get it to correct temps and keeping it there. This unit unit is great looking, and works well. We are very happy with it.
Good ... would have been great if ...

... I hadn't had to have service come multiple times to try and fix a 'knocking' noise when I dispersed water. I had the same refrigerator in my last home and never had a problem with it. The issue was finally resolved and they found that the 'bladder' in past refrigerators had been changed out for 'lines' which was causing the knocking noise. They replaced the lines with a bladder and voila; no noise. Other than that, happy with this refrigerator/freezer as I was with my last.
Freezer door locked and Terrible Customer Service
By Consumer without KitchenAid refrigerator
from Jersey City, NJ
This refrigerator came with the house that I purchased as part of upgrade. Per the Serial and model number, it was purchased in January 2012. At the end of May 2015, I came from my business trip that the Freezer door was completely locked and could not be opened. The Certified technician sent by KitchenAid told me that he couldn't open the door and I have to 'figure out' to open the door and then contact them again. He advised to turn off the refrigerator and wait until ice is all melted inside the drawer as he suspected somehow, the water got frozen and stuck with the basket. I've been living for 2 weeks without refrigerator and was trying to escalate this to the customer service as an exceptional and highly unusual experience. All they could offer was to make another appointment with more experienced technician. Then, why did they send me a novice technician. What kind of customer service tells the consumer to solve the problem and then call them back? Then, why do I need customer service if I can do 'self' service? Other than sub-contracors, they had no option. Plus, my home was vacant while I was away for business trip and the fridge was working fine before I left. Without particular cause, this pretty much represents how reliable their appliances are. Absolutely terrible experience to hang their customer to live without refrigerator in the summer.
