Comments about KitchenAid 24.845 Cu. Ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator - Monochromatic Stainless Steel:
We received our new refrigerator on Aug 31, 2015 & took about a week to get used to its lay out & features. Our one gripe is the door bins. There is no where in the owner's manual stating that the standard bin can only be place in the lower half of the door & the gallon bins can only be placed in the upper half of the door. We do not like this arrangement as it does not give the user freedom to arrange the bins to his liking & feel it could be dangerous in a household with children. After talking with one of your customer service reps he agreed & would send us another standard bin.

I love the space and easy viewing of all the food in the Refrigerator and Freezer.I wish, however, that there was a greatercapacity for ice, and that it could be made more quickly.

We purchased this refrigerator when we bought a new home March of 2014 and have been waiting to write the review. (I prefer to use the product for some time before committing to performance.) We have had multiple issues with this model. First, a ding in the door when delivered, new door arrives and it looks used (scratched and insulation hanging out). Second door arrives and we are happy with the appearance. About 2 months later I notice the refrigerator door will not close unless really pushed shut. Another service call for replacement of hinges. Then the ice maker quits, serviced, not one time, but three times and every time it was a different repair. Replacement of the display screen and I believe some kind of computer module finally fixed the ice maker issue. Holding my breath as it is time to replace the water filter again and in the past this has initiated the ice maker problem. Not only the hinges need to be replaced, as mentioned above, but also the rollers. The service technicians were having trouble moving in and out. I finally asked one if that was normal and he said, "No". So I suggested that they be replaced, as I might want to move it out someday and clean behind it. There is always moisture along the interior wall of the refrigerator on the freezer side. Service man adjusted defrost mode a little, but there was no change. It is something I decided to just put up with. One good thing, there is plenty of lighting, but it is very difficult to find anything. I did not notice (my bad) that the shelves cannot be adjusted, and I feel that there are two shelves that are so close together I can't see what is on them. I call the one under the deli tray the "secret shelf", because if I want to hide any food, that is the place to do it. Also, it drives my family crazy that you can not fill a glass with water and open the refrigerator door at the same time. I have been very disappointed in this refrigerator. Went with KitchenAid because of the counter depth KitchenAid in old house, but I can't get as much food in this one.

Do Not Buy a KitchenAid Refrigerator
from Worton, MD
I bought my KitchenAid KSF26C6XYY04 Architectural Series side-by-side refrigerator and installed it in my new house in August 2013. On July 3,2015 the freezer failed - temperature at 68 degrees while temperature on refrigerator side was 55degrees. KitchenAid sent out a repair company that diagnosed a "Seal System" failure (still under the 2-5 year warranty) but they were not certified to repair it. KitchenAid could not locate any certified service providers that would work on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I hired a local company that said it was a "Seal System" problem but they couldn't fix it. At KitchenAid's advice I called Sears Service who told me it may be a "Seal System" issue but also that the freezer door was warped and letting out the cold - and estimated $1,400 to replace the door. Replacing the door is not covered under KitchenAid warranty. I need to buy a new unit with no compensation from KitchenAid. I will never buy another KitchenAid or any of the other refrigerator brands made by Whirlpool e.g. Whirlpool, Maytag, etc. because Whirlpool/KitchenAid can't provide certified repair support in my area of Maryland and they do not stand behind a faulty product.

Beautiful inside and out. Like the styling, roominess, layout of features, and more. Quiet, too. Stainless steel is gorgeous and easy to clean with simple soapy water. Thank you KitchenAid! Replaced a 20 year old KitchenAid that was still working fine!
My new side-by-side
I am very happy with my new refrigerator. Unlike side-by-sides I have had in the past this refrigerator is very spacious. I have no trouble getting a 13x9 pan into both the frige side as well as the freezer.
Struggle with this---first one never worked right out of the box and struggled with lost food and being without adequate refrigeration for a month. New, replacement seems to be working fine for now but I am still leery of it conking out. It looks nice and I am hopefully it hangs in there and very glad I bought the extended warranty.

I actually have the counter depth model of this fridge. I've owned it for 18 months. At one year, the ice maker failed. When it was replaced, the technician also discovered that the reason my vegetable bins didn't close properly was because the foam insulation was installed improperly at the factory. That took another two trips to fix. Then, the ice maker failed again and fixing it included adding pads below the freezer door switches to be sure they were working correctly - again a factory defect. Then, the ice make auger motor failed and it had to be replaced. Last week the ices maker started to make water for new ice but never stopped. Now, I am waiting for them to replace the ice maker switches because they will not decare my machine a lemon. I expected more from KitchenAid.
Very Nice Features
I bought this about two weeks ago and I'm happy with as it has so very nice features that other refrigerators. Refrigerator proportion is very roomy, freezer is ok also.
Purchased all new KitchenAid appliances for our kitchen.

I bought this appliance about two months ago. We love the reliability of KitchenAid but a little disappointed in the ice maker located on the inside front door. (you can obviously hear the ice anytime it drops into the container located on the inside door...It's loud!) It's was much more quiet with our prior frig. Other than that, we love the appliance.
