We bought this refrigerator in Dec of 2012 and were very happy at first, but within 6 months we had rust on the "stainless steel" doors which was not covered by warranty since it was a cosmetic defect. Most recently about 3 weeks ago we had the freezer and not the refrigerator die on us. Still not working and waiting for a new compressor to see if that fixed the problem. I would recommend other brands than KitchenAid.

Ice maker leaks every time it is on! Leaks into bins below - design NEEDS to change! Found a 6" puddle on the tile this am from leaking ice maker. Great in every other way, door bins are roomy, drawers pull easily & are roomy. Would buy frig with icemaker in freezer drawer next time!

Great looking product, but can't believe it's as loud as it is. Have to get a glass of water during a TV commercial or else it drowns out the sound. Also very loud when ice maker is filling with water. Asked if I'd recommend this product. I guess if you can remedy the loud water noise, I'd say yes.

We purchased our KA refrig to go along with our KA stove, microwave and dishwasher. We like the refrig and have none of the ice maker or leaking issues noted in other reviews. The thing I do not like about the refrig is the noise during normal running. I can hear it all through my 1200 sq ft home. We had service come out the fist week owned and the service tech told me that the factory will not even respond to noisy running complaints. Was told it was because it was energy efficient and that is what caused more noise. Wish I had kept my quite Kenmore side by side. This is not noised by ice falling into the ice maker bin - or noise during water fill up etc. This is the fan and compressor during normal operation. If I could have heard it running in show room I would not have bought it. because of the noise I rated design poor, quailty fair and performance fair.

I am so disappointed in my refridgerator. We have had our unit for 16 months. Only 16 months. We had to have the computer replaced before the warranty ran out. The ice machine was leaking water into the refridgerator. The repair man said he had seen this problem before and it was no problem to replace the ice machine computer and that will fix the issue. It fixed the issue for 7 months. It is leaking again but we are 4 months out of warranty. We also notice early on that it is quite loud. In the last 3 weeks(when the ice problem started again) it seemed to really run loud. It is 1:30 am and I am listening to run from my bedroom. This is my third refridgerator in this house and i have never heard one run from the master. Sad! I love the look, sqft and functionality of this refridgerator, but I would not risk the headaches. I've never wrote a review on a priduct, but felt compelled to share my story. Buyer beware!

Our old Kitchenaid still worked great after 12 years; however, wife wanted stainless steel. We went to Sears to get a Kenmore, but salesman talked me into a Samsung - I liked the idea of dual evaporators. We got the Samsung the first week of January 2014. The icemaker worked for 2 days then quit. And Samsung technical support was no help. We decided to go with what we know, and ordered the KFIS29PBMS as the replacement. I chose it because Consumer's Reports data showed available space WITH icemaker in the refrigerator compartment was the same as most other refrigerators with icemaker in the freezer. Meanwhile, having to keep the Samsung for 2 weeks, it reminded us of breakfast 24 hours a day, with its continual "snap, crackle, pop!" At night, I'd run for my gun, thinking someone had broken into the house and I had to save my wife (we're in the country). We got the Kitchenaid, and I'm gleeful. It’s only been a little more than a week, and there are no sounds, apart from an occasional soft whir. I love hearing the ice fall into the dispenser â€" ‘cause that is the sound of an icemaker that works! The water initially dispensed slower than we wanted, so I removed the filter (we don’t need it, since such filters remove only things you’d find in city water), and water flows better than my old Kitchenaid OR the deficient Samsung. Shipping had dented the KA refrigerator door, so Sears replaced just the door (my request, vs. the entire refrigerator). During the 3rd visit (deliver Samsung, remove Samsung & replace with KA, deliver and replace KA door), the Sears installer/repairman told me KA is the best. In all his years in the business, Samsung refrigerators were returned regularly, but he’d never had a Kitchenaid returned. And TODAY, I learned from Kitchenaid Support that my new refrigerator has dual evaporators. The way sales people at Sears, Home Depot and Lowes talked up Samsung, I thought it was exclusive to Samsung. To Kitchenaid, it must be just another feature among many. This new guy is not my old friend who served faithfully for 12 years, but I am already looking forward to a long friendship.
