Comments about KitchenAid 26.8 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator - Monochromatic Stainless Steel:
It is nicely designed and stores a good amount of food. The unfortunate part is the noise coming from the water filter. I changed the filter and the noise did not go away. Then I called a serviceman who came out and told me there was basically nothing to do "it was just a noise". I was called a day later and informed that an estimate, which I wasn't expecting would be around 600.00 and would not guarantee the removal of the noise. Not so nice now. We are really disappointed.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

We bought this refrigerator Sept. 2014. We have had so many repairs without contacting the service company I could not tell you the exact number of visits, it is somewhere between 8 and 10. We started repairs at the beginning of June 2015 and today November 23, 2015 they finally agreed to replace the refrigerator. They said that they will give us a prorated replacement cost. I had the refrigerator for less than six months before I had issues with it. There should be a full replacement cost, but I guess we will see how that goes when they call to tell me what they are willing to give me for a prorated replacement cost. They replaced all of the doors due to rust. They replaced the doors on November 4th and today when the repairman was looking at the refrigerator I noticed that one of the doors was rusting AGAIN in less than a month. If you know anything about stainless steel it is not supposed to rust. I could go on and on with the MULTIPLE issues we have had with this refrigerator or the ridiculous number of phone calls to the company, but I do not want to spend that kind of time. Whatever you do DO NOT purchase this refrigerator.

I wish I could go back in time and pay heed to the bad reviews this model got. I have a lemon and no way to get it exchanged so basically I'm out a few thousand dollars. I've had at least five work orders on this model and still is not working. Have had the evaporator pan replaced, dryer replaced, compressor replaced. Currently there are issues with gaskets and air tower - so no ice and water leaking on floor for months while the parts are backordered. Latest fun is the horrible noise the freezer is making which you can hear through whole house. Maybe the compressor again or the dryer? Who knows? According to Kitchen Aid customer service, who are sweet but seem to have limited option, all I can do is keep getting things fixed as they break. So about every two months I'm calling the company I purchased it from and wait for them to come look at it, then get parts and fix it. Have to leave work every time and several times have had to clear out the refrigerator and freezer - which is not convenient to say the least. Two working parents and four kids means this situation with a bad appliance is not acceptable. One of the techs said buy Samsung. I will listen to him next time. This is way too much money to have such a terrible model and apparently this company is not standing behind their product. Don't make the same mistake I did. Pay attention to the reviews!
Very Disappointed with service
from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada
Sixteen months after I purchased this refrigerator, I came home from being away a few days and everything in the freezer was soft. I had to throw everything out. I called for service. They said it needed an new compressor and new valve. They have both been replace twice now. It is still not working. Now they are ordering a circuit board which will take 5-10 business days. It have already been over 6 weeks. (I was away for 19 days in the middle of this) But I have still been over 3 weeks without a working refrigerator. Not impressed at all
Very good appliance, a lot of space and quiet , love it!

My refrigerator was delivered October 16, 2015 and has not worked since that date. So far two different repair men have been out and I am now waiting for new parts that will be delivered next week.

I bought this product because I just remodeled my kitchen. It looks great with all my other new appliances. It cools very well. I like the theater lights inside. It makes the interior nice and bright with a soft glow. The ice maker is a little small and makes really small ice cubes. It is in the door and takes up little space and that's a plus. So far I love everything about my new refrigerator.

My wife and I bought this a few months ago when we moved. It has a lot of great features and a lot of room, love the freezer! we have had no problems with it and the one little issue is the ice maker is to small, but we can overlook that. Really glad we went with this model.
You Could Do Better
from Longmont, CO
We installed this KitchenAid six months ago and from day one it did not work properly. The first service company blew us off and claimed user error even though we tried to explain to him that melting ice cream is a pretty clear indication that the freezer is not freezing. Five service calls later from a different service company, and KitchenAid finally agreed to replace the refrigerator. Dealing with customer service wasn't a huge hassle, but they were not upfront about what they could and could not do for us, they did not go out of their way to resolve the problem in a timely fashion, and in the end, they claimed that we were "lucky to get a replacement at all; that the warranty only covers repair". Considering that we basically did not have a working refrigerator for six months and that we lost a freezer full of food, we did not appreciate this lack of decent customer service. The new refrigerator, which we have had for three weeks, is fine. It is quiet, the freezer is cold enough to freeze our ice cream, and the temp in the refrigerator seems to be right on target. There is nothing grandiose about this refrigerator. We ended up with it because we had to have doors with pivot hinges and KitchenAid was our only option. The only great thing about this French Door design is the freezer as compared to other bottom freezers. This one has three sliding shelves which diminishes the feeling that the freezer is one big fat dumping ground where you can't find anything. The LED lighting is also very nice. The ice maker on the door is a nightmare should the power ever go out or the refrigerator fail and you are out of town. There is nothing to catch the melting ice so it drains down the door onto your floor. Trust us, we know. This us what happened to us. Bottom line....keep shopping. For the money, you can probalby do better.
