Not worth the money - nor the aggravation!

Comments about KitchenAid 30.25" Electric Cooktop - Black with Stainless Steel:
This model cooks pretty well. I enjoyed the Even Heat element for a white sauce I made. However, cleaning is totally painful, difficult and unsupported by customer service. The day after I cooked the first meal I called K.A. A customer service person told me there was nothing they could to help me; when I asked for a C/S supervisor, she kindly told me she would send out a complimentary cleaning kit. My question: why wasn't this put into the shipping box with the unit? No answer. AND, no cleaning set yet. Now another burner is totally messed up. And, all I cooked on that burner was celery, onion and tomato. Am mystified where the caked on gunk came from. And, I can't get it off. I'm about to contact the retailer and tell them I want a replacement - to another manufacturer.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I am in love with it especially its safety feature. It is very safe that my kids or I when cleaning don't accidentally press any key to turn it.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

No knobs is a must. I just wished I could see the burners better. The surface is all dark and I can only see the burner area when I turn it on. But other than that, it is great

Do not buy this cooktop

We purchased this cooktop based on brand reputation, some of the on-line reviews, and the sleek design. It is hard to control the heat and the definition of the burners is not good. We are avid cooks and entertain often in our kitchen so both function and aesthetics are important to us- this model has neither. After every use we take a deep breath and once again attempt to clean the darn thing- it's at least a three step, ten minute ordeal to remove spilled food, lift the stains, then remove the resulting film and streaks. We let it cool off, wipe it down, them get the soft scrub, then get the Windex and paper towels. All of this and there are still food stains and spots. Tonight we tried a friend's recommendation to finish it with a single edge razor blade... That definitely helped but there is no way you should have to work so hard to clean a cooktop. Don't be fooled by the sleek design, the only time it looks great is the day it is installed and when there is no light on it. After just 9 months we are alrady dreaming of the replacement.

Having a flat surface with no knobs was very important to us since we wanted an easily cleaned surface. This certainly fir the bill. Elements are easily controlled and can do a low simmer up to a hot skillet. Very flexible and temps are stable.

I bought this cooktop 6 weeks ago and love it. The surface is so easy to keep clean. I feel it is a great up grade to my home.

We remodeled our kitchen about two months ago and added this Cooktop. We originally thought about an induction cooktop, but our cookware is not magnetic so they would all have to be replaced. We are completely satisfied with this KitchenAid Cooktop, which is very user friendly and meets all iof our cooking needs.
Streamline and easily cleaned

Nice and flat and looks GREAT! Kind of cutting edge and modern. Much better than having gas burners sticking up that are always getting grimy.
