Comments about KitchenAid 30.25" Electric Cooktop - Black with Stainless Steel:
I bought this cooktop a couple of months ago. I was looking for a cooktop that was as close to all black as possible - with burner rings that were very muted and didn't stand out as rings on the cooktop. This is the only one I found and, based on the good name of KitchenAid, I decided to purchase it. It works great except there is one BIG flaw: If you cook anything with a sugar base to it and have even a very small spill, expect it to leave a ring that won't come off. I have all the cleaning products for this cooktop but it still leaves marks that you can't get rid of. I've had cooktops previously and never had this problem. It must be a design defect. Everytime I used this cooktop, I hold my breath and hope that I don't have any spills as I know I'll have problems removing these spills. This should never happen with a cooktop as even small spills are to be expected.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Great stove top. Got this as a replacement with a good sale. Love the 12" burner for my large family. The controls are very good and responsive. The control lock is helpful for my younger children and safety. A very good and easy to use product. Impressed with the Kitchen Aid quality.

I like the looks of the unit and it can heat very quickly with the ultra power burner. Front burner in three sizes is a plus. Love the electrionic controls. Just a bit hard to see where the burners are if you do not have a light right above it.
Never had a cooktop before, but I love it.Heats up fast and looks nice in the countertop.

I am not at all happy with the configuration....you lose a quarter of the surface with the controls and then the three back burners are so close together you can't use good sized pots. You can't put stuff down on the controls, so the whole surface is useless. It is easy to clean. I researched all my new Kitchen Aide appliances and did not buy any until I saw it in person. I had chosen a stove top with the knobs on the right like I used to have but was told it was out of stock for eight or so weeks...too long, so the store manager offered me a free upgrade to the "better stove".....So I really did not see it before I purchased it.....The controls work great....that is not the issue, but the setup is just AWFUL....I am sorry I got it.

I have had my cooktop for a little over a month and I am happy with it. I would have arranged it a little differently but my husband didnt want control knobs so we went with this one.

Very attractive cooktop. Need to get used to electric-have had gas cooktop. It is rather difficult to clean. Even when it appears to be clean there are still smear marks. Maybe we need to find the right cleaner. Any suggestions? Love the look and even if it a little difficult to clean it is much easier than our old gas unit. Touch controls are great. Smooth surface-no knobs!
Unable to see burner rings and unhappy with foam

The outline of the burners are difficult to see. The glass stove top does not sit directly on Corian countertop and is raise with a 1/4" foam strip. I am also worried hat will happen to foam when foam gets nasty with good and grease. The burners do not burn evenly.
Nice look-Disappointing controls

We installed this cooktop in May 2014 in quartz countertop. It is attractive, with thin top for nice look and feel. Touch controls do not react quickly. Takes a while for touch to activate any of the controls. Lock feature is a must, since setting an item on the unlocked top's touch controls can turn on a burner. Picking Heat setting from 0 to 9 is hard since there are no numbers on the dotted line you touch to raise or lower heat settings.
Great modern features!

We just completed a total redo of our 20-something kitchen, and replaced our outdated electric stove with a kitchen aide cook top and built in oven. I love the cooktop with its totally smooth top (no bottoms or knobs). Also I like the zone size feature on some of the burners.
