Comments about Kitchen-Aid 30.8125" Electric Cooktop - Black with Stainless Steel:
We have had the 30 inch Induction cooktop for three months and are 100% satisfied. We are pleased with the mix and layout of small and large cooking elements. We have never once been unable to use one of the elements due to size constraints: the larger elements are big enough and we have no trouble using our smaller pots and pans on the larger elements. The cooktop is easy to keep clean as overflows do not heat, then stick. Controls are well laid out and are simple to understand and use. The elements are powerful and heat up quickly.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great cook top!

I bought this cook top August 9th. Had it installed on August 16th. We love it, it works great.
Very satified with operation however we had to buy new pots & pans etc.

I echo almost everything that you read in the five-star reviews. Super-fast preheating, precise control, no excess heat in the kitchen, etc. It's especially good for cast iron, which can take a long time to heat up. My one caveat, which knocks it down a star for me: the "bridge" element doesn't exist. When you initiate that feature, it simply controls two separate round elements at the same level. There are no additional electronics in the bow tie-shaped connecting area..meaning that a griddle that spans the burners will not heat evenly. On our old smoothtop, conventional range, that area actually heated up. There's at least one Bosch induction model that does the same. This was the primary reason I purchased this particular model, and if you're counting on a nice, large, evenly-heated area for pancakes, steaks, etc., pick another model. If the bridge burner isn't a concern to you, go for it: it's an otherwise wonderful cooktop.

Works well, had to be retrained regarding the controls, not as noisy as some people were noticing

Right after purchase, there is a "short". Flashing lights for two burner controls. First circuit board didnt work...am waiting on another and repairman.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

We have been using this for two weeks and had to buy all new cookware. First, one of the elements wouldn't stay on and when we had a technician come to fix it we discovered that each element requires a pan with a bottom surface the size of the element for it to work. A wok doesn't keep on the element as the bottom surface area is too small. Plus in the first week, while moving a pan off it's element, the surface scratched. That seems ridiculous since we are using approved cookware. You need to know what you are getting into.

We bought the induction cooktop for our new house. I liked the fact that it heats the pan and doesn't throw a lot of heat into the room. It can boil water in about a minute. You have to pay attention to it at first because it heats up so fast. We love it.
