Comments about KitchenAid 30.8125" Electric Cooktop - Black with Stainless Steel:
I have never used a cooktop that can boil water so fast, neither gas or electric. Control over temperature is very fast and very consistent, from the hottest setting to just warm. The features are practical and uncomplicated to use, and clean up is as easy as it could possibly be. The only negative is that at high power my pans emit a low volume whining/screeching sound caused by the magnetic induction.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

As much as I loved my induction cooktop when I purchased it, here we are 3 years later and it does not function properly and will cost me $650 to fix. I expected more from kitchen aid!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I love the smooth design. No knobs to have to clean under! I like the induction cooking and the design is so sleek.

I have owned various KitchenAid appliances for over 30 years and have been reasonably satisfied with their quality and performance until recently. When remodeling our kitchen in 2012, I purchased a 30" KitchenAid induction cooktop (KICU500XBL) so this review is from 4 years of experience. The initial cooktop stopped working within a couple of months of installation and after about 3 weeks of diagnosis and discussion/negotiation with Whirlpool, they finally relented and replaced the unit. Unfortunately, the replacement unit was not much better. It too stopped working shortly after installation, but fortunately was repairable. Based on the serviceman's recommendation, I purchased an extended 3-year warranty, which I highly recommend if you can afford it. Fast forward to today, and the unit stopped working again with no power or display. I had a serviceman diagnose the problem and he concluded that the display and power control boards need to be replaced to the tune of over $1,000 - less than 4 years old and kaput! So now I'm discussing and negotiating with Whirlpool again to determine if the unit is repairable or other sort of settlement, which will leave me without a functioning cooktop for at least another 2 weeks. The saga continues and I know that I will never buy another KitchenAid induction cooktop and probably any other KitchenAid appliance. I strongly suggest that you evaluate numerous manufacturer's induction cooktops before purchasing a KitchenAid.
Love it! Easy to manage cooktop! Very slight, if any, splattering of food while cooking. Easiest cooktop top to clean ever!! It will always be an induction cooktop for me!

DO NOT BUY - Glass broken
from New York
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE> GO FOR ANOTHER BRAND. DO NOT STAND BEHIND THE PRODUCT.We received a destroyed cooktop from the moment we opened the box. Kitchenaid did not want to send a replacement but told us to get a repairman. We purchased an entire Kitchenaid kitchen and will be cancelling the order and going with Samsung. Horrible customer service.

Boils water in 2 minutes

Boils water in 2 minutes. Easy to clean. Only downside is the humming sound during use, which is louder than the one i had previously at my prior home, which is a different brand.
A great product!

I bought this cooktop one month ago. This is my first induction cooktop. What a great product, with the special touch of KitchenAid. I really appreciated my choice.
BUYER BE AWARE!!!!!!!!

I would put 0 stars if I could! Do not buy this cook top! This is the worst appliance I ever had! This cooktop burned twice in a matter of a 6 month. First time it burned after 3 months of use. Leaving my family and my one years old son without cook top for almost one month. they wanted to repair it but parts were on a back order. No timeline, no answers when it might be replaced. NOTHING. They finally replaced unit because kitchen aid couldn't find a parts. This Thursday it got burned again, after another 3 month. What a quality! Moreover, it's sparkled and lite up like a Christmas tree. Very dangerous! This is 240 watts cooktop. In addition to that, customer service scheduled my appointment on Saturday and confirmed it twice; however, today I found out that Appliance repair center was not even open on Saturdays. I've cancelled my weekend plans for this appointment...... Just a waste of time and money. Highly recommend you to buy a different brand, which now I'm going to do myself!
