too long to preheat!
from TN, United States
Comments about Kitchen-Aid 30" Double Electric Wall Oven - Stainless Steel:
I bought this as part of new appliance package for our new home and the biggest drawback is the LONG time to preheat. From other reviews it seems like it is just part of this oven but I am going to call customer service and see if they can come take a look. Customer service for the other appliance minor issues I had have been awesome. One other drawback is the LONG cooling time and loud fans as it is cooling down! It is pretty to look at. I am not an avid baker so not sure about how well it cooks. Seems to get the basic job done (cooks casseroles, meat loaf, etc...).
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Dead control panel out of the box. Had to have the unit replaced even before installation.

All ovens require calibration. My wife is a baker, and with baking a few degrees off can result in a total failure (by her standards). Once we calibrated the ovens, which was quite easy as explained in the instructions, we got perfect and consistent results. The oven is large so that the door comes out a little further which may render it difficult for a shorter person. It is perfect for us!

When we remodeled our kitchen, we looked for a group of appliances we felt had top performance, high ratings and great looks. We settled on KitchenAid and have never looked back. It took my wife a couple of times to get used to the many features of this double oven including the convection setting but now she has it humming like a pro. Great style and superior performance. There is a little learning curve and don't lose the manual.

I bought this a month ago and I'm loving it. I'm very pleased with how it cooks. And I love how it looks. I love how when you turn on the light to see inside you can see everything. Great Oven....
I Love It!

I bought this a few months ago. It's easy to clean, beautiful, wide, adjustable shelves, easy to work, plenty of room. I wish I had upgraded to the double convection oven. Without convection, food cooks faster on top shelf.

We love the performance and features. Be careful of oven spills; we find it difficult to completely remove stains from the porcelain bottom and don't want to use self cleaning for small spills.

Purchased these ovens for my newly built home in 2011. Everything works fine EXCEPT for what I consider a dreadful design flaw. When baking or roasting, the oven AND broiler elements cycle on and off to maintain temperature. This often results in burnt/overdone top surfaces of food. Almost impossible to keep turkey from burning without covering with foil. I plan to replace these ovens soon, and will be most careful to read the fine print about the broiler element. I most certainly would not purchase again.
