Great cooktop with one misleading description
Comments about KitchenAid Kitchen-Aid 30" Electric Cooktop - Black:
Heats cast iron super fast--so fast that on I cracked a griddle because I let it heat up for about 45 seconds on Boost. Accurate controls, fast cooking, very low, consistent slow-cooking temps. My only complaint: there are no electronics in the bowtie-shaped area between the so-called "bridge" burners. All that setting does is control the two burners simultaneously. I discovered this when I realized that the middle of our griddle was not heating up as much as the ends. On our old electric cooktop, there were actually heating elements in that area. If you do a lot of griddle cooking, check for another brand or model that will actually heat that area; they're available.

Excellent control of cooking heat finally!

I bought this Kitchenaid downdraft electric cooktop about two months ago. I love it. I have so much more control of the temperature than I did with my old JennAir. I am sorry I waited so long to replace my old cooktop. I had it repaired twice.

My 15 yr. old Jennair cooktop died, and I gather Jennair is not up to par these days. I needed a downdraft cooktop, and KA has a good looking one. It cleans up well using the included solution. I'm still getting used to the dials and what heat they produce. Water boils quickly, stews ate tasty, hambergers turn out well. I'm pleased with my purchase.

KITCHENAID 30" 4 ELEMENT DOWNDRAFT ELECTRIC COOKTOP
BOUGHT A FEW MONTHS AGO TO REPLACE A JENNAIRE COIL DOWNDRAFT COOKTOP; HEATS UP QUICKLY; LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT EXCEPT IT IS VERY HARD TO KEEP CLEAN. SURFACE HEAT ADJUSTS QUICKLY.

Heats up very fast and exhasut fan in middle works amazingly well. It is a little hard keeping it clean and will require persistant work. I haven't used it that much but still takes some TLC. Pay close attention when cutting on eyes -- easy to mistake which one you're working with.

I purchased this stove in July of this year. I really like the cool down features. It looks very nice in my kitchen.

Way too difficult to deal with

I used a small induction cooktop and loved it. When I bought this unit I find that the controls are too sensitive. If I lean a utensil on the pan I am using and don't watch carefully it may turn the unit off. If I put too much water on my sponge when washing the unit it beeps at me. As a matter of fact it beeps at me all the time it seems.

I picked out all new appliances when I had my kitchen remodeled 5 months ago and my induction cooktop is my favorite of the bunch. I can make a pan of pasta faster than I could boil water on my old ceramic stove. And the temperature control is amazing. It's so responsive I no longer burn things. Only the surface area beneath the pan is hot, so nothing spilled sticks to any of the surface. My stove is as clean and shiny as the day it was installed 5 months ago.
Next best thing to gas
from Dallas, TX, United States
I have had my induction top for a year now and love it. I really wanted gas but was too cost prohibitive to convert. This is as close as it gets. Heat control is excellent along with instant cool down. Love the boost to get things boiling extremely quickly. Cleaning is a breeze. I wish I would have had the space for a larger one.
