I've lived with this range since 2013 and am disliking it more every day. The front knobs are a horrible pain and wish that I had not bought this style. The kitchen designer talked me into it, though I questioned the hassle of front knobs. She was right about everything else with our new kitchen except wrong about this range. Two MAJOR flaws: 1) there is a 2" gap in the back so you have to get a special countertop piece made to seal that opening, really really dumb. 2) we hit the front knobs all the time and have turned them on the wrong way, so we live in fear that they will accidentally be left on and cause a fire, as careful as we are. I truly detest these range and am going to have to figure out how to sell it, so I can buy a different one without front knobs. Whoever designed it was clueless.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Takes a long time to preheat oven
from Cupertino, CA
I bought this model because i have s narrow kitchen counter and kitchen and needed a range that doesn't protrude out. Newer models have 2-3 inches more depth and didn't work for me. Cooking top is ok, no complaints, hence the 3 stars. But the oven takes 20 min to preheat, that's 4 times longer than the whirlpool I had before this, very frustrated by that. Won't recommend kitchenaid, seems like their product design team doesn't get it.
second KitchenAid in 29 Years
from Trinidad, CA
this is the 2nd KitchenAid range my first was a drop-in electric that lasted and it was the best I could buy then, if this model lasts as long as the previous one did then I'm set. KitchenAid seems to build the best features into their models. thank you
What a beauty!

A well built range. Control and functionality are of high standards. This unit cooks everything evenly and makes us want to cook in the kitchen more. It has a stylish design and incorporates technology to help with timing and cooking the perfect meal. I would highly recommend this range.
High pitched whine
By Quiet lover

The very first time I turned the oven on there was a high-pitched whine. The service tech told me this noise was "normal" for Kitchen Aid/Whirlpool. The noise is very irritating and very loud. The noise comes from a cooling fan that cools the electronics. Although the range looks beautiful, it has been poorly engineered. Do not buy.
Beautiful and functional

Maybe it'seems because I had a 1970'similar harvest gold stove before this one? I love my new stove as it's easy to use, gets hot fast, cools down fast and cleans up like a dream.
Stay far away...
from New York
Unfortunately we purchased this range and were burnt as well (no pun intended). We didn't have any problems cooking with the unit though, if and when you want to use the self cleaning feature, be aware. Every time we attempted to clean the oven the unit shut off and the panel went dark. We called the service department and each time, they replaced the thermal fuse. That's right I said each time because, we tried it several times and the same thing happen. It was never corrected and we have to manually clean the oven. After doing some research online, it appears this is a common problem with the Kitchenaid line. I am shocked that a class action suite has not been filed yet. It's kind of sad, because we spent the money thinking we were getting a quality range and Kitchenaid will not, and does not stand behind their products.Though, late in the game I hope this review saves someone the grief of owning one these lovely ranges.KS
