I love my cooktop. The 5 burners make it so much easier to cook a meal on and they are spaced far enough apart so that the pans all fit.

Love having the 5th burner! Remodeled our kitchen a month ago and are thrilled with this choice! Easy to clean, works great, looks great!
Impressive looking and delivers!

Long story: We bought a corner whirlpool tub (with extended warrantee) for a daughter in law who was seriously inured by a dunk driver in a head on collision. After 2 years, the pump began to leak. Since the company could find no one to replace the pump, they refunded our full purchase price as a store credit. We took the pump out ourselves, and replaced a $7 pump seal. At the same time our own 36" professional series cooktop was seriously leaking gas, and replacement parts would have cost almost as much as getting a new one. But with the store credit, we had enough funds to look at natural gas cooktops. We were impressed with the ruggedness and look of the 36" KitchenAid stainless steel cooktop, bought it with the store credit and a little more cash, and installed it. We are extremely satisfied with it. It really pours out serious BTUs!! Now we can boil a large pot of water in under 5 min! And having a continuous surface of grates is a definite plus. A caution is that very small pots can tip over due to the breaks in the grate surface, so be careful. Our act of kindness towards our daughter in law boomeranged back to help us out!

100% Better than what I took out!
Love the unit and the controls operates smoothly. The only thing I wish were a bit different is the height of the grates. they are kinda high, so it seems to take a bit longer to heat things up. Would love to see them a bit lower. Even if Kitchen Aid sold lower grates separately I would buy them. Other than that this is a great purchase. So I am not giving it an excellent because it's not perfect.
I love it!

Everything I cook turns out perfect. The burners are hotter than I was used to, but it seems that the food cooks faster and tastes better. I love the center burner that boils water in 4 min. for pasta.

We are a KitchenAid family only thing in our kitchen is a SubZero refrigerator. We had a Thermador cooktop but when we remodeled our kitchen we replaced it with your 5 burner Architect series . I absolutely love our new cooktop and the additional cooking space. We looked at several other brands but decided on KitchenAid and I am sure glad that we did for it "fits the bill" for us.
will barely boil water on high !
from Windham Maine
With the big center burner on high it takes 7-8 minutes to boil 2-3 quarts of water in a 8 quart pan that is covered. My old electric range did this in less than half the time! Then it will only boil water at a slow rolling boil and needs to stay on high to even steam vegetables
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Looks good. Slow boil
Bought this 3months ago. It looks great, easy to clean. But water takes forever to boil. Friends bought same stovetop, and they are having same issue. Not sure if it's BTU issue, or if the pots sit too far from flame. But 10mins to boil a small pot of water is ridiculous.
KitchenAid 36" 5 Burner Cooktop

We purchased this about a month ago and have been generally happy with its performance. We like the look and the even cooktop surface. We think the ignition is a little balky / delayed and the "high" seems a bit slow - but adequate.
