Looks great, works great, could be roomier

Comments about KitchenAid 48 Bottle Built-In Wine Cooler:
I think the wine cellar looks great and really compliments our house. It works well and maintains a good temperature. I like the functions is provides such as an alarm when the door is left open and the temperature in the refrigerator drops. The only issue I have is that my favorite wine comes in bottles that have a wide base. They are too large for the shelves and the shelves are not adjustable. To fit the bottles in I had to remove the bottom shelf and stack several bottles on the bottom of the refrigerator. The shelf was easy to remove but I'm disappointed the refrigerator doesn't take into account larger sized bottels. Still, I'm happy with the function of the unit and would otherwise recommend it. I'm more frustrated with the winery for using an unusually shaped bottle.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Larger bottles such as champagne do not fit.Otherwise works fine for standard shape reds and whites.

Like it so far
I've had this less than a month; seems like a good product at a good price. I like the two temperature zones, how the bottles fit in, the look of the unit. One minor negative is that the door hangs a little askew; this affects appearance not functionality.

Poor Design and Shoddy Assembly
from Charlotte NC
Purchased April 2016, installed, and tested for 2 days. In general this cooler is designed and built solely to look impressive. I found nothing to suggest any priority for function or enduring service after the initial purchase.1) The door of my unit was sufficiently miss-aligned to the body that opening the bottom drawer/rack required pressing the door seal back away from the drawer to gain clearance.2) The drawer immediately below the display panel does not provide sufficient space for average size wine bottles. Wine bottles with circumference 25.5 cm and larger may fit in this drawer by deflecting the display panel which is directly above. Placing 4 or 5 average bottles in this drawer results in a press fit situation that tears the bottle label and drags all bottles to the back of the drawer when it is opened.3) The flexible lip below the display which is intended to create a barrier between the upper and lower zone is attached by a very weak adhesive which barely survives the unpacking process. This flexible lip did not contact the front door glass when the door was closed. 4) Temperature controls require the top zone to be the cooler zone. Because the bottom zone is not physically isolated it is not possible to attain a sufficiently less cool temperature in bottom zone. The unit deliverd to me was essentially a one zone cooler, having 4 useful drawers, and some fancy useless electronic controls. It's functional utility little more than that of a xmas tree.
Do not buy this product
from New York
I don't reccomend you buy this wine cellar. It doesn't fit most bottles of Burgundy or Barolo
I bought this unit because I've generally had good experiences with KitchenAid products having owned their dishwashers and refrigerators. Sadly KitchenAid has dropped the ball on their wine frig. It does not fit wine bottles! I drink a fair amount of Barolo & Burgundy and the bottles simply do not fit. The unit also does not come even close to fitting the advertised number of bottles should you happen to buy really small bottles of wine. About the only thing this wine frig will fit is sauvignon Blanc. It did not even fit CDP, so if you drink premium wine forget about this unit.

This came new in my newly build house and after a year and half it went out with an electrical smell. Called warranty to make a claim. They sent a service man out to look at it. He stated that this is a safety issue and could not find the problem. He stated quoting hundreds of dollars for parts that he didn't know if they would solve the problem but said he would call about the safety issue. Have not heard back from the repair man.
Nice looking, but red zone is too cold
from Newtown Square
We installed this model six months ago. It looks nice in kitchen. But kind of noise when the fan is on. The major problem is the red wine zone is too cold and is colder than the thermo indicated. We haven't figure out the way to fix it.
