Very nice refrigerator
from Edmond, Ok
Comments about KitchenAid 25.6 Cu. Ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator - Black:
This refrigerator is great. We bought this model because of the ice dispenser being on the outside, much easier. Makes ice quickly, quiet running fridge.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

It's a good refrigerator
works fine. Only complaint is that glass jars don't slide on the glass shelves and are always tipping over ... odd.

Door slams into granite countertops/Loud waterline
I have had this fridge for almost 1 year. It has been bad ever since I got it. I have had appliance repair out four times and they claim, that is how it is made with plastic door stops that bend. The repair guys even say it should be metal but that is up to KitchenAid. The waterline is very noisy when it fills the ice tray. I love all of my other KitchenAid appliances but this is a TERRIBLE product and KitchenAId does not care. They won't give me a replacement. I will contact my CC company for warranty replacement.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Love that the ice maker takes up so little room.

We bought this about 6 weeks ago and love it. Very easy to keep everything organized and neat. Very pretty also.

I really like my new KitchenAid refrigerator. I like the shelves and drawers arrangement. I would have liked one more shelf in the door of the refrigerator. Also the "chute" where the ice is dispensed could be a little longer. It is difficult to get ice into a glass without chip and/or cubes missing the container and landing on the floor.
Very Nice, But ...

This is a very nice refrigerator with all the modern features you would expect from a KitchenAid product. Lots of convenient lights and indicators provide excellent information on what the machine is doing and what needs to be done -- such as change the water filter. However, it has two aspects that are irritating. First, the ice maker likes to stop working for no apparent reason and it will not indicate what the problem is. This has happened on at least three occasions where no ice is made for up to three days and then, magically, everything returns to normal operations. I have no idea what the reason might be. Second, the door panel contains a touchscreen that allows you to enter commands with the use of your finger. For some reason, the designers were not able to provide simple English commands. For example, after changing the water filter, you need to reset the very-useful indicator that reminded you it was time to make the change. To reset, you push OPTIONS, then LOCK, then MEASURED FILL. Pretty obvious, right? Lastly, the refrigerator comes with an Owner's Manual and a User Guide. Each is well-written and provides mostly clear information, but each one keeps referring you to the other one for complete information. Why not just one book?
Not sure it's worth the price, overall.

We bought this in a suite of Kitchenaid appliances and this was the deciding factor on purchasing the suite. We love the water distribution system. However, the ice cubes are small. It's very noisy when it dumps and refills. And when it dispenses the ice in normal cube mode, it still breaks then up a bit. Poor design. I am also not happy with the limited ways to adjust the door shelves in the fridge and the drawers in the freezer are rinky dink, especially for the price. We had a Whirlpool Gold before and loved everything about it, except the freezer space and the water dispenser area. I wish this fridge had the same interior design and quality as our old one.

We bought the first refrigerator in 2012 and had to have that one replaced under warranty in 2013. The original refrigerator build quality was so bad that the doors wouldn't align. I spent hours on the phone with Whirlpool and had to have a tech visit 6 different times. Now the replacement refrigerator will not stay cold enough. We've lost so much food I hate to even think about the money we've spent. We decided to purchase the R+1 maintenance plan, so add an additional $360 that we've spent on this "premium" kitchenaid appliance. Kitchenaid customer service is deplorable. Expect to be on hold for 30 minutes at a minimum before you talk to anyone. (oddly, when I used the menu prompts for "new appliance sales", a representative picked up immediately). Now I'm being told that the part they need to fix our refrigerator is on "back order" and Whirlpool allows their suppliers 45 days to supply the back ordered part before they speak to their customers about "alternatives". This is so backwards to me. I'm an automotive supplier and if the OEM has a customer with a vehicle off road, and I don't supply warranty/service parts on time, I get charge for all costs associated with their customer (rental vehicles, expenses, etc.).Meanwhile, my family of 5 is without a refrigerator for another 21 days before Kitchenaid will discuss alternatives. Why should I buy another Kitchenaid/Whirlpool product?

I bought this refrigerator when I downsized to a smaller home and it is perfect for me.

We are very happy with our choice of refrigerator. It's so much quieter than the one we bought for our previous home. Lots of space inside. Always plenty of ice, love the little round 'cubes'.
