Do not buy any induction cooktop from Kitchenaid. Mine stopped working after 2 years. Impossible to repair, even by the experts from Kitchenaid. I got to throw it to the garbage. They are giving my a tiny reduction if I buy an other one, not enough for me, I want my money back! And customer support is the worst I ever encountered.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Horrible Dimension guide
By Not an Expert
from Los Angeles
Downloaded the dimension guide for the countertop to be cut out. You need to be a expert plan reader to be able to clearly see what the cut out dimensions are. Cant you just easily say "Countertop cut out dimensions are ......." . There is so many lines, arrowss, dotted, solid, and letters you cant be 100% sure you are looking at the rigth one.

I BOUGHT THIS MODEL BECAUSE OF THE TWO 7" ELEMENTS BEING ABLE TO BRIDGE. NOT KNOWING YOU CANT FIND A GRIDDLE THAT WILL FIT. THEY ARE EITHER TO LARGE 0R TO SMALL. THE ELEMENT SIZES ALSO ARE NOT SIZED AROUND STANDARD INDUCTION COOKWARE. THE SALES MEN ARE NOT TRAINED TO BE AWARE OF THIS. I THINK THE BETTER OF THE TWO 30" INDUCTION COOK TOPS WOULD HAVE BEEN THE MODEL THAT DOES NOT BRIDGE AND HAS A WIDER RANGE OF ELEMENT SIZES. I AM GOING TO SEE IF KITCHEN AID WILL EXCHANGE MY UNIT. IF NOT I WILL TAKE THE LOSE AND PURCHASE FROM A DIFFERENT COMPANY. BEING A RESTAURANT OWNER I EXPECT PERFECTION IN MY COOKING.
Not as hot as I thought it would be
I shopped around a lot before choosing this brand and model. The burners him and click when maintaining a low temperature which drives me nuts. We have also had a very difficult time with cookware even though we've bought specialty pots for induction. Sizing is difficult for burner size and not all pots work on all burners. You can't use the power burst on 2 burners at a time either. I wouldn't buy it again.
I have never used a cooktop that can boil water so fast, neither gas or electric. Control over temperature is very fast and very consistent, from the hottest setting to just warm. The features are practical and uncomplicated to use, and clean up is as easy as it could possibly be. The only negative is that at high power my pans emit a low volume whining/screeching sound caused by the magnetic induction.

As much as I loved my induction cooktop when I purchased it, here we are 3 years later and it does not function properly and will cost me $650 to fix. I expected more from kitchen aid!

I love the smooth design. No knobs to have to clean under! I like the induction cooking and the design is so sleek.
