I BOUGHT THIS MODEL BECAUSE OF THE TWO 7" ELEMENTS BEING ABLE TO BRIDGE. NOT KNOWING YOU CANT FIND A GRIDDLE THAT WILL FIT. THEY ARE EITHER TO LARGE 0R TO SMALL. THE ELEMENT SIZES ALSO ARE NOT SIZED AROUND STANDARD INDUCTION COOKWARE. THE SALES MEN ARE NOT TRAINED TO BE AWARE OF THIS. I THINK THE BETTER OF THE TWO 30" INDUCTION COOK TOPS WOULD HAVE BEEN THE MODEL THAT DOES NOT BRIDGE AND HAS A WIDER RANGE OF ELEMENT SIZES. I AM GOING TO SEE IF KITCHEN AID WILL EXCHANGE MY UNIT. IF NOT I WILL TAKE THE LOSE AND PURCHASE FROM A DIFFERENT COMPANY. BEING A RESTAURANT OWNER I EXPECT PERFECTION IN MY COOKING.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Not as hot as I thought it would be
I shopped around a lot before choosing this brand and model. The burners him and click when maintaining a low temperature which drives me nuts. We have also had a very difficult time with cookware even though we've bought specialty pots for induction. Sizing is difficult for burner size and not all pots work on all burners. You can't use the power burst on 2 burners at a time either. I wouldn't buy it again.
I have never used a cooktop that can boil water so fast, neither gas or electric. Control over temperature is very fast and very consistent, from the hottest setting to just warm. The features are practical and uncomplicated to use, and clean up is as easy as it could possibly be. The only negative is that at high power my pans emit a low volume whining/screeching sound caused by the magnetic induction.

As much as I loved my induction cooktop when I purchased it, here we are 3 years later and it does not function properly and will cost me $650 to fix. I expected more from kitchen aid!

I love the smooth design. No knobs to have to clean under! I like the induction cooking and the design is so sleek.

I have owned various KitchenAid appliances for over 30 years and have been reasonably satisfied with their quality and performance until recently. When remodeling our kitchen in 2012, I purchased a 30" KitchenAid induction cooktop (KICU500XBL) so this review is from 4 years of experience. The initial cooktop stopped working within a couple of months of installation and after about 3 weeks of diagnosis and discussion/negotiation with Whirlpool, they finally relented and replaced the unit. Unfortunately, the replacement unit was not much better. It too stopped working shortly after installation, but fortunately was repairable. Based on the serviceman's recommendation, I purchased an extended 3-year warranty, which I highly recommend if you can afford it. Fast forward to today, and the unit stopped working again with no power or display. I had a serviceman diagnose the problem and he concluded that the display and power control boards need to be replaced to the tune of over $1,000 - less than 4 years old and kaput! So now I'm discussing and negotiating with Whirlpool again to determine if the unit is repairable or other sort of settlement, which will leave me without a functioning cooktop for at least another 2 weeks. The saga continues and I know that I will never buy another KitchenAid induction cooktop and probably any other KitchenAid appliance. I strongly suggest that you evaluate numerous manufacturer's induction cooktops before purchasing a KitchenAid.
Love it! Easy to manage cooktop! Very slight, if any, splattering of food while cooking. Easiest cooktop top to clean ever!! It will always be an induction cooktop for me!
Awesome cook top!

DO NOT BUY - Glass broken
from New York
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE> GO FOR ANOTHER BRAND. DO NOT STAND BEHIND THE PRODUCT.We received a destroyed cooktop from the moment we opened the box. Kitchenaid did not want to send a replacement but told us to get a repairman. We purchased an entire Kitchenaid kitchen and will be cancelling the order and going with Samsung. Horrible customer service.
