beautiful design horrible reliability
from brooklyn ny
Comments about KitchenAid 4.7 Cu. Ft. Built-In Refrigerator - Stainless Steel:
I bought this item for a small efficiency apartment it broke almost immediately and the wiring harness continues to be chewed up by the drawer glides. Nothing is under warranty and each repair costs over one hundred dollars plus several hundred dollars for parts. I have similar sub zero models which are much more expensive but they work. Too bad because this is a beautiful looking machine, but for the money it should work.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Everything falls over
from Chicago, IL
If you do not have the drawers completely filled with drinks, every time you open the drawers, everything falls over. They need to have a divider option which kitchenaid is saying they do not.

Company Does NOT Stand Behind Warranty
I agree with all the other reviewers who give this product 1 star.My unit's parts are under warranty but are not field replaceable. KitchenAid told me I had to buy a new fridge.

After 2 months using, it started to make awful noise. the noise it makes is louder than my dishwasher and are very like washing machine noise or even louder. Repair guy came to my house, he said he can not anything about noise if cooling function is ok. I believed that Kitchen aid is the leading company and also brand value But it is very disappointing. I totally waste my money on the noisy junk if it is NORMAL noise.PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM

it makes lots of noise. Noise started after 3month I installed this, and repair guy(under warranty) said he can nothing to do with this one because Kitchenmaid NEVER allow to replace parts. because of the noise I am using this expensive machine as a drawer.

Looks Great. Breaks often. Warranty repair bad.
from Alexandria, VA
I bought this refrigerator freezer for my wet bar in my house. It was replaced due to one of the drawer slides breaking. Two adults, no kids. It wasn't abuse. After it was replaced the second unit started running all the time. I called, and was told this was normal. Then the unit wouldn't cool the refrigerator drawer, and the ice would melt in the freezer. It has been broken for 5 months with a variety of excuses from Kitchen Aid. I'm not at all impressed. Great concept, but it just isn't reliable.

Beware about warranty work!
from Denver, Colorado
Kitchen Aid makes it impossible to use the sealed system warranty because they will keep asking you to replace parts to prove that it is unrepairable. The cost of the labor to install these parts is over $1000. They will not tell you how much of a credit they will give you if it is unrepairable so you have no idea if it is worth shelling out that kind of money. Plus, the Kitchen Aid tech line can always ask the service tech to keep doing more work costing you more money. It has been a nightmare!
