All the things I wanted are here and they work
Comments about KitchenAid KDFE204ESS Dishwasher:
So far I used the machine four times and the results are outstanding. Had trouble finding honest installers and did it myself. Directions and guidance in manuals are outstanding and had no trouble installing. My last kitchenaid dishwasher lasted 27 years. Hope this will maintain it's brand reputation. So far all systems go.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Super quiet, 3rd tray handy
from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
We bought this unit to replace a 15 year old Kitchenaid whose control board had gotten wonky (the heater element wouldn't turn off)... so here we are. We compared a LOT of different brands (Bosch,Miele, Samsung, LG, etc.) but we're sold on the large size, stainless steel bottom and reliability of the Kitchenaid models. We've had the dishwasher now for only two weeks, but so far, so good! Dishes come out clean, dry and intact, so we can't really ask for more. The third row rack has come in handier than we thought it would; this is where tiny espresso teaspoons, long spatulas and weird shaped flat things go. We don't do a lot of lasagnas and casseroles, so we have yet to test the power scrub mode, but thanksgiving is coming...Some niggly points though:- when the lower rack is front loaded (i.e.: dishes are stacked towards the door without anything in behind), the wheels tend to plunge into the crack between the door and the body, but only if the door isn't all the way open. I have lazy teens, so I hear the wheels drop in at least twice a day. This is an easy fix - load from the back, and open the door all the way!!! Grrr!!! Kids!!!-the buttons in the front are touch sensitive and accidentally get pressed opening and closing the door (we have the dishwasher variant *without* the handle); luckily it's just the wash options and not the start/stop buttons.-the LEDs are blindingly bright, but that's no big deal, it just makes it look like a starship control panel.-normal cycles take 2.5 hours at least, but we turn ours on at night, so again, no big deal. There's an express option that takes more water and power, but we haven't tried it yet.-the detergent holding cover seems REALLY flimsy and doesn't lock most of the time - I hope it lasts, but it seems like it won't, I've seen disposeable packaging that closes tighter. The holding clasp is thin plastic. It looks pretty easy to replace, but why??Overall we're pleased with the dishwasher and hope it lasts...

We recently purchased however. my wife is a fan of Kitchen-aid appliances all the appliance we have in our kitchen are kITCHENAID. Very dependable appliance. There are practacelly no problems and runs smoothly.
Better than I hoped for
Have had this new dishwasher for a month and find it an extremely nice addition to my kitchen renewal project. It does a great job. My only problem is that it doesn't indicate the progression as well as my previous one: I was able to follow the status with a marked dial letting me know when it is filling, so I can run the hot water when needed for the next phase. After the initial starting period, when I run water into a dishpan and use it elsewhere, the water has to be heated by the dishwasher and makes the cycle longer. So far, this is the only down-side. It's quiet and very functional.

I have only owned this dish washer for a month, but I am very pleased with it's performance. It is very quiet and I haven't seen my dishes and glasses look this clean in a long time. I am very pleased with this purchase.

This is a wonderful dishwasher. So quiet. Has an extra drawer for knives and spatulas. Dishes fit easily in it. More cycles then I'll ever use. Love it.

Cleans great, runs quiet. DOOR WILL NOT SHUT
from Port Washington WI
I don't have any of the problems I've read about regarding cleaning, drying etc. This dishwasher does a wonderful job cleaning and drying and is phenomenally quiet! However, since the 1st 2 weeks of usage 3 mths ago I have had issues with the door not shutting. I have called my contractor back 3 times after going weeks without using it. Sometimes it will still run (loudly)when I know it's not shut completely and 2 weeks ago it actually popped open mid cycle. Monday my contractor came again and it shut completely, but I had a video to show him how I had to push the door & hold it for it to run quietly and open when I let go. He suggested I look on-line for similar complaints. I've been adding dishes since Monday when it shut correctly and went to run it last night only for it to NOT shut AGAIN! I had to take EVERYTHING out & wash it by hand. Today, it is shutting completely but I am afraid to fill it up again. I am going insane with this dishwasher! So, here I am and I see other people have had this same issue-HELP!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

So quiet and love the 3rd rack...
I bought two of these. One works perfectly. But one steams out the top and puddles on the floor. This is the only reason I did not give 5 stars. So disappointed I have to call for service right off the bat.
